What a sensational event was the 2025 BMW SuperFest on 26 October 2025 at Sydney Motorsport Park. It is generally conceded that our SuperFest is already the largest BMW festival in Australia and, very probably, in the Southern Hemisphere (and it was only its second year).

A huge THANK YOU must be given to our Social Manager, Ashleigh Sherry, and her very happy, but, no doubt, exhausted, band of helpers. It was great to see so many members assisting, in all sorts of ways, in the running of the event. The old slogan of “many hands make light work” is certainly applicable but our SuperFest Team actually does need more “hands” for the running of the 2026 event so, if you think that you could assist in any way, even down to just letting people know where to go as they arrive (which is part of what I did on the day) in 2026 just let Ashleigh know.

Park and plans in place for a number of social activities including some lovely drives to nice venues so that we can further enjoy our cars and get to know our fellow BMW enthusiasts even better.

SuperFest isalreadythe largestBMW festival in Australia

A separate but very big THANK YOU must be given to Parramatta BMW and Castle Hill BMW for their support for the event and at the event. They certainly put on a beautiful display of BMWs, particularly the BMW Art Car.

Please support all of the businesses who put in such a great effort in support of the event as major sponsors of the event as a whole, of the show and shine and car judging and of the motorsport activities on the day as well as those businesses who took the trouble to set up trade stands to show us what is available for our much loved machines.

Planning for Club activities in 2026 (and even 2027) is already underway with supersprint dates, driver training dates and motorkhana dates booked at Sydney Motorsport

EDITOR

As I sit down to introduce this special edition of Torque of the Town, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride and excitement. If you’ve picked up this issue and thought, “Wow, this feels thicker than usual,” you’re spot on. The BMW SuperFest was such an incredible event that we simply couldn’t fit all the stories, photos, and memories into our regular format—so, just like the event itself, we made this issue bigger. 2025 has truly been a milestone year for our club. From the energy of the BMW Nationals at the start of the year, to the joy of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the BMW 3 Series, and finally the unforgettable BMW SuperFest—the largest BMW gathering in Australia, and perhaps even the Southern Hemisphere—there’s been so much to celebrate together.

In 2027 our Club will be hosting the BMW Nationals using Rydges at Mount Panorama, Bathurst from 18 March to 21 March 2027. Planning for this major event has started and we have received enthusiastic support from the Rydges Hotel and from the events manager at the Bathurst Tourism Centre. We would very much like to hear from members about what sorts of activities they would like to see and be part of at these Nationals, noting that there will be no “on rack” activity on the Mount Panorama Track for many reasons including track hire cost (enormous) even if the track was available, which, generally, it is not, and the number of officials needed at that track. So, dear members, think about what you would like to do at Bathurst and let Ashleigh or me know.

Finally, the year is coming to a close and it has been a very hectic year in lots of ways. I would like to thank everyone on the committee for their efforts and input during the year, including Peter Quinlan who recently had to stand down from the Committee due to time constraints, and I would like to thank all of the many and varied helpers who give so much time and effort to assist at our various events. Without helpers everything would slowly grind to a halt.

I close wishing all of the Club’s members and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2026.

On a personal note, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Denis Mamo for stepping in as editor for the last issue while I took a short break. After many years of back-to-back issues, I needed a moment to recharge. This magazine is a labor of love, and it’s the passion of our members that keeps it thriving.

Now, I invite you to be a part of our story. If you have photos, stories, or memories from club events, please reach out and share them. Your contributions make every issue richer and more meaningful. Let’s continue to celebrate our community—together, we can make Torque of the Town shine even brighter.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

The weather has warmed up - the rains have stopped and we are getting out there. Great to see that Jason Nitz from the Central West Chapter has had an M Day run with a few locals and Ian Ashton continues to grow the Newcastle Chapter with monthly cruises and get togethers.

I am local to this one so have gone on a few of these where we often get 12-18 people, meet up at a local cafe for a coffee, then go for a scenic cruise for an hour or so through the Hunter Valley or Central Coast and end up at Port Stephens or somewhere similar for lunch. A fantastic way for those not in Sydney to enjoy their BMW’s with like minded owners and maybe make some new friends.

The reason I mention this is that I am still desperately looking for members from other parts of the State to do what Jason and Ian have done in their local area. It isn’t onerous. I provide you with a list of members in your region (with their permission of course) and you can set up a network through email, SMS or socials and do a monthly get together.

It’s about trying to get members engaged with each other and their cars in their own localised BMW community. If I don’t get members to come forward, it will just fall over. Whilst the runs that Ash organises from Sydney are fantastic (so much so that they fill up in a matter of hours), there is generally only a couple each year in each direction north, south and west of Sydney so the opportunities to get together outside the metro area are limited. If you are willing to give it a go, reach out to me at membership@ bmwclubmsw.asn.au or give me call on 0403505762 to discuss. Same goes for the “Meet the Members” column.

We are not after any personal info that you don’t want to give out - first names are fine, pics of cars with number plates obscured are fine as well. It’s just about introducing yourself to your fellow members. This is your magazine, as the Membership Secretary I work (well, volunteer) for you - but I can only do so much. So get involved, it is a great Club, help make it better.

Make sure you check out the new Merchandise page on the website: www.bmwclubnsw.asn.au/merchandise

Merch update for the next edition is that the new hoodies and jackets have hit the shop and selling fast. We have some limited edition red hoodies that are selling quite well and there are limited numbers. There are also navy and black coloured hoodies. The hoodies are the AS Colour brand and they wear and wash very well. They don’t change shape in the wash. The new soft shell jackets are black with aqua fleece inside. Very warm and fit very well.

Trevor Dean

Trevor Dean, newly elected as Chair of BMW Clubs International Council (BCIC). The election was on 6 Sep at the BCIC Annual Meeting in Munich. This is a massive commitment for Trevor looking after BCIC and working with BMW Clubs and Community Management, BCCM, that is part of BMW Classic Munich as part of BMW AG.

Many of us ask, what is BMW Clubs International Council and what is it all about and where do we fit in? BCIC is made up of a delegate from each of the 14 BMW Club umbrellas and includes representatives from BCCM. The umbrellas are BMW Car and Motorrad, that is Motorcycle Clubs, spread out around the world.

There is a total of 800 clubs in these umbrellas with 230,00 club members.

Our club is part of all this by being a member of the BMW Clubs Australia, BMWCA, umbrella. It is 15 delegates, one from each of the 8 Car and 7 Motorrad official BMW Clubs and has an Annual Meeting of delegates in Melbourne and at BMW head office in Mulgrave. BMWCA elects a Chair, Vice Chair Cars, Vice Chair Motorrad and International Delegate as its executive. At 31 Dec 2024 there were 4,334 members in car clubs, 2,045 members in Motorrad Clubs, total 6,379 members, with an annual growth of 14.96% in car and 0.79% in Motorrad Clubs. Our BMW Drivers Club had 1,118 members back on 31 Dec and now has 1,242 Member Oct 2025.

BMW AG, the company, finances and supports the BMW Clubs around the world with funds provided thru BMW Classic in Munich to BMW Clubs and Community Management. Those funds flow to support the clubs and provide BMW with the avenue to work with the club members promoting BMW worldwide. I feel sure we are proud of Trevor Dean, as BCIC Chair and wish him all the best in his giant international role.

WENDY REIS

A tribute to the memory of one of the clubs founding members

Wendy Reis and her husband Gerry Reis were present at the first meeting held in 1979 to establish the BMW Drivers Club of Australia.

They have had many BMWs over the years but I remember their pride and joy in the early years of the Club was a square tail light golf yellow 2002 (Pictured right).

They married in Wollongong in 1965 when Wendy was 17 and have been together ever since. A happy marriage that has lasted 60 years during which they weathered lifes ups and downs but always remained each others ‘best mate’.

Wendy worked in PA positions for solicitors in the Wollongong area and also managed a building society branch. She branched out into her own business for a time with a Jeanette but also sold Recaro seats and the like.

Gerry was managing tyre businesses and eventually purchased one from his bosses in Warilla NSW.

They lived in several areas around Wollongong for many years travelling to Sydney to attend BMW Club events and shared many happy times with Club members having maintained continuing close friendships with Peter Richards, the Bailey family, John & Elly Comino, Bob Twine and others.

They eventually moved to the Gold Coast where they had another tyre business and more recently retired to Hervey Bay I Queensland.

Wendy has always done volunteer work and been involved with VIEW and gave her time as a JP.

Gerry and Wendy chose not to have children but their life was each other. They did have dogs and cats that Wendy was very devoted to.

She battled lung and chest issues for many years but was a definite fighter and always positive.

Wendy was diagnosed with Cancer 3 and a half years ago which she fought valiantly – this was her biggest battle but

she was determined to outlive the 3 to 6 months the doctors gave her. She underwent clinical trials and necessary treatment buts sadly she passed away on 11 September this year

Gerry is devastated by the loss of his ‘best mate’ - I have to say that Gerry has been unwavering in his support and commitment to Wendy and has given everything to her.

We will miss her dearly but cherish the wonderful memories shared with her.

AGM 2025

This year, there were no major changes to the BMW Drivers Club NSW committee or constitution. Instead, I’d like to highlight our special guest speaker, John Denis, Chair of Variety Australia Limited, who shared how our fundraising helps change lives across Australia.

About Variety Australia:

Variety Australia, also known simply as Variety, began in Australia in 1975 after a group of Australian business executives attended a Variety event in the UK in 1974. His Royal Highness King Charles III, then Prince Charles, became the first Australian patron in 1975, a role he continues to hold today.

In its early years, Variety focused on the movie industry, raising funds through gala dinners and events. In 1976, one of the first major donations was a pediatric ambulance for a hospital in Sydney. From there, Variety grew steadily, including close collaboration with the Newborn and Paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) in the 1980s, providing countless ambulances and critical support.

In 1985, Dick Smith organized a fundraising rally across Australia inspired by the historic Redex Reliability Trials (1953–1955), which tested the durability of standard

production cars over some of the country’s most challenging terrain—from Bourke, NSW, to Burketown, QLD. These Variety rallies remain highly engaging events that raise significant funds for the organization while providing participants with an unforgettable experience.

Key Initiatives

• Variety Sunshine Coaches: These specially equipped buses help children with disabilities or disadvantages access the community and participate in activities.

• Support for NETS: Variety has helped NETS deliver emergency care and transport for sick children across NSW, including installing HD cameras in hospitals to connect with specialists.

• Flying Start Program: Brings pediatric specialists to remote areas.

• Inclusive Programs: Variety runs educational programs like “Just Like You” and builds inclusive playgrounds, reaching over 200,000 primary school children.

Variety’s mission is to empower children with disabilities or in poverty to participate fully in society. After 50 years, their work continues to make a profound difference for children across Australia.

NEUE KLASSE BMW

After four years of development BMW releases the first of the Neue Klasse

World Premiere: BMW iX3 Launches the Neue Klasse Era

At Torque of the Town we do not normally write about BMW production news however with the release of the first of the Neue Klasse design concepts I think it is important to look at the design direction BMW is taking. Over the last five years it is reported that BMW has invested approximately $17 Billion Australian Dollars in the Neue Klasse design concept

A Bold New Design

On the 5th of September the new iX3 took the stage for an international release of the Neue Klasse. The first thing you can’t help but notice is the grille, it reminded me of the E21 3 Series kidney grilles giving the car a futuristic retro grill.

Power Meets Precision

Underneath its striking appearance, the iX3 showcases sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. With a driving range of up to 805 kilometres and an impressive 400 kW charging capacity, the iX3 raises the bar for long-distance electric travel. It’s an SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle) engineered not only for sustainability but also for performance, with the new “Heart of Joy” drivetrain and dynamics management promising unmatched agility and precision.

BMW also unveiled a next-generation electronics and software architecture—powered by four “superbrain” computers—that makes the iX3 more intelligent, adaptable, and future-ready than any BMW before it.

Designed for Circularity

While performance and design stole the spotlight, BMW also used the event to highlight its deep commitment to sustainability. The iX3 50 xDrive is the first Neue Klasse model to be

developed with the ‘Design for Circularity’ approach, which focuses on three pillars: prioritising the use of secondary materials, strategic material selection, and optimising disassembly for future recycling.

As a result, one-third of the material used in the new iX3 comes from secondary sources. One standout example is the Econeer seat cover, available with the Essential interior trim. Made entirely from PET—including fabric, adhesive, and fleece—the mono-material construction makes the seats significantly easier to recycle. Even the textile yarn is created from 100% recycled PET.

The commitment doesn’t stop there. Other components such as the center console, instrument panel, and interior floor trim have also been developed with circularity in mind. This ensures the iX3 isn’t just a leap forward in technology and performance, but also a model of environmental responsibility.

A Glimpse of What’s Next

As if the launch of the iX3 wasn’t enough, attendees were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming BMW i3. Though details remain limited, the preview revealed a compact, futuristic silhouette that promises to bring Neue Klasse design and technology to a broader audience.

A New Chapter for BMW

With its combination of striking design, cutting-edge eDrive technology, circular sustainability, and visionary digital intelligence, the new BMW iX3 sets the benchmark for the future of driving. The premiere was more than a car launch—it was the opening chapter in BMW’s Neue Klasse story, with the promise of over 40 models to come between now and 2027.

TORQUE Tech

5-minute Job

We’ve all headed out to the garage for the good old “five-minute job,” only to find that the day is gone and we’re nowhere closer to finishing what we started. Well, that’s exactly how my latest adventure began - with a simple “plug and play” upgrade for my E39.

The plan was straightforward: update the standard in-car radio with a more modern unit that had all the latest options, like Apple CarPlay. After a lot of research on the internet, I found a system that looked almost identical to the original and was advertised as a simple “plug and play” solution. Two weeks later, my order arrived, and all I had to do was unscrew the old head unit and plug in the new one… or so I thought.

I headed into the garage, ready for my quick upgrade, but— yes, you guessed it—the plugs were all different. Not all was lost, though, as I was able to find a wiring harness from the same company that would solve my problems by providing all the necessary plug adapters. So, back to the computer for another online order, and then another two-week wait for the wiring harness to arrive.

When I opened the box, there it was: the wiring harness to end all wiring harnesses. It had every plug you could imagine. Now, being an Aircraft Tech—or “Black Hander,” as we’re known—wiring isn’t really my thing. Looking at this spaghetti bolognese of wires, I started to question what I’d gotten myself into.

But I wasn’t going to be put off by the challenge, so I turned to YouTube to figure out what I needed to do. I quickly discovered that I’d have to start pulling out parts of the interior to run the wiring harness from the boot to the dashboard. Off I went to Total Tools Newcastle for some specialist tools to remove trim panels. If you’re keeping track, my five-minute job was now into its fifth week.

Starting week six, I pulled out the back seat, trim panels, glove box, and other bits and pieces. That’s when I hit a small snag: somehow, the small metal clips for the glove box had disappeared. I knew I’d put them somewhere safe so I wouldn’t lose them… After almost five hours of searching—pulling everything apart, lifting carpet, rummaging everywhere in the garage—they were still missing. I gave up, defeated, and placed my torch back on the workbench I’d used to search. Wait—what’s that on the magnetic base of the torch? You guessed it: the two clips, magnetized to the bottom of the light I’d been using to search for them.

The next day, I was determined to finish this five-minute job. I ran all the wiring and sat there with the wiring diagram, trying to work it all out… but alas, it had beaten me. Luckily, I’d used a mobile car audio service before, so I called for help. When I explained that I’d stripped everything out and just needed someone who knew which wire went where, he was there the next day. In two hours, he had everything working. Finally, it was in. All I had to do was put everything back together, which, surprisingly, went pretty smoothly. And just like that, my five-minute plug and play upgrade was done… seven weeks later.

Finally it was in, now I just had to put everything back together, which surprisingly happened pretty easy. Then just like that my 5-minute plug and play upgrade was done….. seven weeks later.

AWAY Rain rain go

Mid-week social drive: Mount Kembla Village Hotel

It was a wet, dark and gloomy morning when at 5.15 AM I started the engine of my Z4 M coupe. It was good to get it on the road, a 2006 model with only 37,000 kms, it needed a run; but in this weather!

As I subscribe to the principle of when you organise an activity you have to do you duty, I drove on through the night, wondering how many other brave souls might turn up. Arriving early at the meeting place the rain was still pouring down as the dawn meekly opened one eye. Already a text had arrived, “It’s raining, have a great day.”

One by one they arrived, seemingly unperturbed by the rain, as we stood in a small circle under umbrellas chatting about everything and nothing. It was great to meet new people. By 7 AM we had seven vehicles and nine people, determined that a little rain was not going to spoil their day. Now when I say rain, I mean RAIN! We waited until 7:10 to see it any late comers would straggle in; such hope and faith, but alas no more Beemers.

Off drove the hardy travellers, down through one of our favourite driving spots, the Royal National Park. Wonderful widening curves with no cars in front to hold us back. No cars, but there was fog, along with the incessant rain. The fog was so thick we were down to 50-60 kph; that is, we were, but not a Mazda who seemed intent on causing an accident overtaking on the inside. The fog was so thick I imagined hearing Heathcliff and Cathy calling out to each other (C/F Wuthering Heights)

This was a good opportunity to drive safely but also check the holding power of our cars on a wet road. The Z4 feels quicker than the Cayman I use for sprinting, even though the figures on paper do not support that conclusion. I am still not using it for sprinting and certainly not the 2000 model, twin turbo Porsche, fully rebuilt by Bob Whyms, and pushing out 330 kW.

Then it was on to the Old Pacific Highway, the big loop up on to the Picton Road, then left down the winding road through to Mount Kembla. This is a quaint little mining village that has a lot of character, but also carries the memory of the tragic 1902 mine disaster when 96 men and boys were killed - the youngest fourteen-years-old.

A short drive after the village we arrived at the Mount Kembla hotel where a table had been set aside for us to enjoy the delicious food and great hospitality. The conversations were so lively that I extended my stay much longer than usual. We even had free muffins provided by the staff, so we must have made a good impression.

What madness it is to drive in the dark; can’t see a thing and nowhere to park.

DIMENSIONS Automotive

The BMWDC NSW heads to Flemington Night Markets

The BMW Drivers Club of NSW attended the Automotive Dimensions event at Flemington Markets on September 6, 2025. This popular monthly car show featured a diverse range of vehicles from various brands, with the organizer providing us a dedicated display space for our BMWs. The event created a lively, family-friendly atmosphere with music, food trucks, and plenty of entertainment.

Around 25 members participated, showcasing a mix of classic and modern BMWs, including several G87 M2s, a late-model M5 CS, and a M4 GTS. The crew engaged enthusiastically, sharing stories and enjoying the camaraderie. Highlights included Margaux’s BMW 635CSI, which took home a trophy—much to her surprise—and Gino, a past winner with his iconic 850CSi.

The event also featured rare cars, and the overall vibe was friendly and upbeat. After the show, the group cruised to Neutral Bay for late-night coffees and socializing. It was a great night for BMW enthusiasts, and we look forward to more collaborations with Automotive Dimensions in the future.

GEN M Col Crawford

Cars and Coffee with a rare M flavour

This year, BMW Global launched the new Gen M brand campaign — a celebration of community, connection, and being United by Performance. The more I read about the Gen M campaign, the more I see how perfectly it aligns with our own club: bringing together people of all ages who share the same passion for the brand.

One group that shares this passion is Col Crawford BMW, long-time supporters of our club. So when they reached out to host a Cars and Coffee – Gen M Edition, how could we possibly say no?

Rolling into the dealership early in the morning to see a flurry of activity was nothing short of impressive. The entire Col Crawford BMW crew was there, making sure everything was perfectly set up and that there was plenty of room for the lucky 40 cars that had registered for the show and shine display.

Not long after, the cars began to roll in, and it was like watching a runway of BMW’s finest. From classics like the E30 M3 to modern marvels such as the M3 Touring, and everything in between. There were M2s, M3s, and even a gorgeous 2016 M4 DTM — one of only ten delivered in Australia.

lanyard for the day.

Now, I could have happily stayed out in the car park all day, but Col Crawford had something very special in store for us.

Inside was a lineup of some of the rarest BMWs in Australia, on display from a private collector who was more than happy to showcase decades of what Gen M is truly about.

First, I went on the hunt for coffee... but quickly got distracted by the E9 3.0 CSL, also known as the Batmobile. Talk about an absolute classic — specially developed by BMW for the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC). In total, only 1,265 were ever made to meet homologation requirements, with just 500 right-hand-drive models produced.

Inside, things got even rarer (if that’s even a word!).

Lined up were some of the biggest BMW hero cars I’ve ever known, and it was incredible to see them all in one place. I’d love to write about every car there, but there’s just not enough space — so here are a few standouts.

The first to catch my eye was the 2011 BMW M3 E92 GTS, finished in its striking Special Fire Orange II paint.

Photos by: AJGreen Photography
Each car was greeted by Col Crawford staff with a smile and a

Only 150 were produced worldwide, powered by a reworked S65 engine with increased displacement, producing 444 horsepower.

Sitting quietly in the corner was the somewhat understated E90 M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) — but those who know, know. Only 67 were ever made globally. It was developed to showcase BMW’s advanced carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) manufacturing, with lightweight carbon components integrated into key areas such as the hood, front seats, rear wing, front lip, and air ducts — achieving impressive weight savings.

One of my personal favourites was the BMW M4 F82 GTS — a high-performance, track-focused version of the M4 coupe. Introduced in 2016 as a limited-production model, BMW originally planned to build just 700 units, but due to high demand, production increased to 803. Australia was initially allocated 10 cars, later raised to 25 due to popularity. The M4 GTS used the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six (S55) as the standard M4, but stood out for its unique water injection

Then there was the car I’dbeenmosteagerto see - the 2025 BMW M4 CS VR46

system, which sprayed a fine mist into the intake to reduce temperatures and allow for higher boost pressure — enhancing track performance.

Then there was the car I’d been most eager to see — the 2025 BMW M4 CS VR46. Unveiled in February this year, it was created as a limited-edition tribute to nine-time motorcycle world champion Valentino Rossi, now a BMW Motorsport works driver. The unveiling coincided with Rossi’s 46th birthday, and only 46 examples of each of the two colours — Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic and Marina Bay Blue Metallic — were produced. And, in case you hadn’t guessed, 46 is also Rossi’s race number. What stood out most for me was the hand-painted graphics — something you rarely see these days.

Col Crawford BMW’s Cars and Coffee – Gen M Edition was one for the ages, truly showcasing what Gen M is all about — not just celebrating our differences, but highlighting our shared passion for the BMW brand.

A huge thank you to Jim Haikalis our new cars and coffee coordinator who worked tirelessly with wonderful team from Col Crawford to put this amazing event together for us all to enjoy.

EXPERIENCE BMW M Drive

Brings Excitement to the Central West

For enthusiasts of BMW’s iconic M division, few opportunities rival the thrill of getting behind the wheel of the latest performance models and pushing them beyond everyday limits. That’s exactly what unfolded at the recent BMW M Drive Experience Day, proudly hosted by Central West Prestige. The event brought together a group of passionate drivers and business leaders to enjoy a day of horsepower, friendship, and connection – all set against the sweeping backroads of Orange and Blayney.

The M Drive Experience wasn’t simply a car launch or a casual test drive. It was a carefully designed day where attendees had the chance to rotate through a selection of four of BMW’s newest M models, chosen from the impressive line-up of eight vehicles available. Each car embodied the precision engineering, aggressive styling, and pure driving pleasure that has made BMW’s M badge a benchmark in the performance car world for more than five decades. From the moment the keys were handed over, it was clear this was no ordinary event

Driving the Dream

The day’s program was built around one simple idea: let the cars speak for themselves. Participants were able to swap into different M models throughout the day, experiencing firsthand the subtle yet important distinctions between them.

Whether it was the razor-sharp handling of an M3 sedan, the brute power of an M4 CS, or the dynamic agility of an M2, each car delivered its own take on BMW’s philosophy of “the ultimate driving machine.”

The backroads of Orange and Blayney provided the perfect stage for these cars to shine. With their mix of winding curves, sweeping straights, and rolling countryside views, the routes allowed drivers to safely explore the performance potential of each machine. The balance of speed, control, and responsiveness highlighted why BMW M cars are equally at home on the track as they are on a country road.

For many participants, it was a rare chance to compare models back-to-back in real-world conditions – something that simply can’t be replicated in a showroom. It was also an opportunity to discover new favourites; more than one driver finished their session convinced that the model they least expected ended up being their top pick.

More Than Just Cars

As thrilling as the driving was, the M Drive Experience was about more than horsepower. At its heart, the event created a community moment – bringing together a diverse group of M enthusiasts, local businesspeople, and BMW loyalists who share a common passion.

Photos by: Elisha Leahey

Conversations flowed easily between sessions, with stories exchanged about favourite drives, past BMWs owned, and the ongoing evolution of the M range. The shared excitement was infectious, whether someone was a seasoned BMW owner or attending their very first performance drive day. It was also a chance to forge new connections. Business relationships often begin in formal boardrooms or networking events, but there’s something refreshing about meeting

Every element was carefully thought through, from safety briefings and route planning to hospitality and vehicle preparation. The result was an event that not only showcased BMW’s world-class engineering but also reinforced Central West Prestige’s commitment to offering customers memorable and meaningful experiences.

FOUR Motorkhana

The Fourth round of the 2025 Motorkhana championship

Round 4 of the Motorkhana at Eastern Creek was my third event as a new member of the BMW Drivers Club NSW. I had already attended a midweek run to Mt Kembla Village Hotel for coffee and a nice lunch meet at Carnarvon Golf Club, so this would be a new experience to join the folks who wanted to test their capabilities on the skid pan.

The Eastern Creek Raceway precinct was busy early with the Bangers and Mash event at the Dragway, and both the V8 Supercar hot laps and karts in full swing also.

My job as a volunteer for the day was to participate in the start/finish timing, and I had a great time, especially working with Alex, Dom and Matt. Everybody was enthusiastic, and it was a pleasure to chat with drivers and supporters when possible. The wind got up early but that didn’t faze anybody and had little impact except for trying to stop the Marshal’s tent from blowing away. We had 48 (check) cars registered to test driver skills on the skid pan, and we were treated to

several fantastic runs throughout the day. Personally, I saw some beautiful cars and talent behind the wheel and even some hairy moments as couple of cars came very close to the walls. One entrant in his black V8 Holden was saved by his towbar.

As we moved through the 4 stages - Crazy Square, Plumb Crazy, Crossover and Big Eyes - it was apparent that everybody had dialled in their effort to produce a constant improvement from every car, and that meant more fun for both driver and spectator (and Marshalls). The Shootout saw some excellent driving turns and drifting getting tighter and smoother.

I left a little early for the day a little sunburnt but happy to be a part of it. Once again, I am finding the diverse experiences as a new member to be something I wished I could have done earlier. Thanks to everybody for being so welcoming.

CAPITAL Escape to the

Canberra, the Nation’s capital. It gets a bad rep, doesn’t it. Home to our political leaders and where the decisions are made that affect everyone in the country. Thankfully, there’s also a lot to love here too! ACT is an ‘island’ within NSW and island escapes are always fun!

There are some great things to see and do. One thing that stands out is just how good the lack of traffic is and the ability get to most places in 20 minutes!

The Sydney crew came together at the Botanic Gardens Mount Annan for a bite to eat before setting off to the ACT. Breakfast was delicious, and the location even better. Ash highly recommends a visit to the gardens and brunch in their café. The weather was perfect for the start to the weekend. Our usual escape regulars set off onto the Hume in a long line of BMWs. Our first stop was Berrima for a comfort stop and a visit to the famous Gumnut Patisserie. Ash saw a Crimson Rosella hoping for some crumbs.

Our next notable stop was the Dionysus Winery inside the ACT border. Dionysus sported not only a delicious selection of wine to taste, but also homemade chocolates. Also DIY cheese and charcuterie platters were fun. We all enjoyed wine and snack on the patio before heading to our accommodation for the evening.

Dinner was at Solita Italian in the Canberra CBD where we shared delicious pizzas, pasta, salads and wine! It was here that our friends from Car Club Canberra joined in. Solita was well rated and a must do if you are in Canberra. Thank you to Stephen Page for taking group photos at dinner.

Saturday

We all met for breakfast at a lovely place in Curtin called Evoke Bakery. They make delicious bread, pies, pastries and New Zealand-style donuts! The coffee is great and the prices are reasonable. From here, the Canberra Club lead us on a fantastic tour of their local fun roads, making our way out to Wee Jasper and the newly established Wee Jasper Distillery. They have a simple food menu that is well executed, along with a great drinks menu! It’s a serene country setting with vast open spaces that overlooks the Goodradigbee River. It is so peaceful, a place that we could sit at all day with a cocktail in hand just taking in the natural world around us – a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The afternoon rolled round fast and it was time to return to civilisation, wash our cars in preparation for German Auto Day and prepare for a delicious banquet at Bamiyan, an Afghan Restaurant in Braddon. Great food, company and conversation ensued. The restaurant is also highly recommended when you are next in Canberra CBD.

Sunday – German Auto Day

This is the biggest German car show in the ACT, held every year by the BMW, VW, Porsche and Mercedes clubs. It was held near Lake Burley Griffin, a picturesque spot in the National Triangle.

With over 86 BMWs proudly on display, this marks GAD’s biggest turnout of BMWs ever! There was also an impressive lineup of BMW motorcycles. Without a doubt, the largest German marque represented at the event.

A major highlight was the celebration of 50 years of the BMW 3 Series, featuring every generation on display. In total, we showcased 40 3 Series models, with the M3 Competition and 330i from Canberra BMW adding an extra touch of interest. One unforgettable moment for me was seeing Lawrence Glynn arrive in his rare E21 323i JPS, towing a BMW 700 on a trailer! What a surprise and something you simply don’t see every day.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Escape to the ACT, we can’t wait to see you at a future one!

SKID PAN Driver Experience 3

The final driver experience event for 2025

On the evening of Sunday, 12th October 2025, we held a fantastic second “Driver Experience Skidpan” event, and it was a massive success!

The goal of the night was to teach drivers advanced car handling skills in a safe and controlled environment, perfect for anyone looking to get into motorkhana or simply master their car’s limits.

We were thrilled to see so many participants eager to learn, including 8 brand-new drivers who joined us on Introductory Licences! It’s always brilliant to see new faces getting a taste of motorsport, and we couldn’t have asked for a more enthusiastic group.

Our instructors, Alex Wong and Andrew Best, guided the drivers through a series of exercises designed to teach them how to handle both understeer and oversteer, handbrake turns, reverse J turns and drifting which culminated in a few attempts at a Motorkhana Test (course).

We had an incredible and diverse lineup of cars on the pan, with everything from classic E30, E36, and E46 M3s to the modern F80, F82, and G80 M-series cars out on the pan.

But the variety didn’t stop there. We also saw some serious European exotics, including a McLaren 570S and an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Adding to the amazing mix were Japanese heroes like the Toyota 86 and BRZ, Aussie muscle in the form of a Commodore and a Ford Falcon, and even a Lexus NX300 SUV proving that all cars are fun on a skidpan!

A huge thank you to all the drivers who came out and to our incredible team of instructors and officials who made the night run so smoothly. We hope everyone went home with new skills, more confidence, and a big smile. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!

STEP-UP Time to

Become a Motorsport Australia Coach

As a Club, we take pride in fostering a strong, passionate, and capable BMW driver community - and that means we don’t just host events.

We mentor. We teach. We lift the standard.

In 2025 we will again continue to expand the driver development initiatives across both social and motorsport pathways, and to maintain that momentum, we’re calling on our experienced and long-time drivers to take the next step — become a Motorsport Australia Accredited Coach.

This qualification is not just a title — it is an important responsibility, and a platform for you to share your knowledge, develop the next generation, and reinforce the BMW community ethos of safety, performance, and excellence.

We’re proud to announce we already have eleven expert drivers who have completed the Motorsport Australia Coaching program, and we thank them all for stepping up. They’re already contributing to strategy, skill refinement, and giving structured guidance that genuinely lifts outcomes for our less experienced drivers.

But we need more.

Why now?

We have our first Driver Experience / Come & Try events for 2025 right out of the gate:

- 18 January – Skid Pan

- 31 January – Amaroo Circuit

These events are where enthusiasm meets opportunity — and where new members (and even some of our long-standing ones!) learn how to properly engage with controlled vehicle dynamics, track etiquette, and safe progression.

To deliver the best results, we need a broader pool of accredited coaches supporting these programs.

We owe it to our members to provide quality, structured, safe guidance, based on best practice — not “my mate showed me this once” and not random ad-hoc advice in the paddock.

What does a Motorsport Australia Coach actually do?

A Motorsport Australia Coach is an official who is trained and accredited to support skill development in others. This includes:

- observing driving technique

- providing clear, structured feedback - supporting safe skill progression

- reinforcing behavioural standards and motorsport etiquette - helping build confidence in new or developing drivers

And yes — it’s more than just being quick on track. This is about teaching — not just showing off a laptime.

The best part — Coaching accreditation is FREE

Photos by: AJGreen Photography

Expert drivers — this is your time. Step up, get qualified, and help us shape the next generation of BMW enthusiasts.

Because driving well is great — but helping others become great is even better.

Motorsport Australia provides the coaching pathway at no cost. You simply need to complete three steps:

1. Apply for a Coach licence via your Motorsport Australia Member Portal

2. Obtain a Working With Children Check (volunteer free) via Service NSW

3. Complete the online Coaching Module

Links:

Motorsport Australia Coaching: https://motorsport.org.au/officials/coaching/

Service NSW WWCC: https://ocg.nsw.gov.au/working-children-check

When you’re done — let us know

Once you’ve completed the coaching qualification, please email: motorsport@bmwclubnsw.asn.au so we can add you to the Club’s official Coach Team register for 2025 and beyond.

Be part of the foundation

This is a tangible way for our experienced drivers to contribute to the culture and future of the Club.

If you’re the kind of driver who’s always giving advice, analysing lines, explaining braking strategy, or mentoring others anyway — then this makes it official, recognised, and part of a proper development structure.

We all remember the person who gave us the right bit of guidance at the right time. Now you can be that person — backed by Motorsport Australia accreditation.

HUNTER Regional Club Events

BMW Drivers Club NSW, not just Sydney

The BMW Drivers Club NSW regional events continue to grow, reflecting the increasing enthusiasm and camaraderie among members across the state. Since the last issue of Torque of the Town, the Hunter regional group has been particularly active, meeting once a month to explore the scenic roads of the Hunter region. These gatherings offer members a wonderful opportunity to share their passion for the BMW marque, exchange stories, and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.

In October, the group kicked off their monthly adventure with a coffee meet at Maddz on York in Terla. After catching up over coffee, the convoy set off for a picturesque drive through the renowned wine country, taking in the beautiful landscapes that the Hunter is famous for.

The journey concluded at Jimmy Joans in Lovedale, where members enjoyed a relaxing lunch together. The event drew a diverse lineup of nine BMWs, ranging from classic models to the latest releases, as well as one eye-catching XC Cobra that attracted plenty of attention from both club members and onlookers alike.

The momentum continued into November, with the group gathering at Oak Freemans Waterhole for their customary morning coffee. Energized and ready for another day of exploration, the members then traveled down to Yarramalong, where they dined at the charming Angel Sussurri Restaurant.

The lunch provided another perfect setting for members to connect, discuss their shared interests, and plan future drives.

These regular outings not only strengthen the bonds within the club but also showcase the vibrant BMW community in the Hunter region. With each event, the group welcomes new faces and fresh stories, ensuring that the spirit of adventure and appreciation for the BMW brand continues to thrive.

Australia’s largest BMW Event

Wow! SuperFest 2025 has come to a close, and I couldn’t be happier with how much of a success it was!

Firstly, I would like to sincerely thank all of our event volunteers, the club committee, and the SuperFest sub committee. With over 70 volunteers required to run SuperFest, it is an event that I can truly say is at the heart of the car community.

This year we welcomed back our event major sponsor Parramatta BMW & Castle Hill BMW, and welcomed on board two new event major sponsors, Sydney Premium Detailing (Car Show major sponsor), and Collecting Cars (Auction partner). Our Motorsport Championship sponsors were Revivify, Shannons, Detail Autohaus, Scuderia AutoArt, MODE Auto Concepts, Atomic Racing, ARTKA Wheels, Flowsports / MRD Performance, and Chemical Guys as our new Car Care Product Sponsor. I would like to express my gratitude to all our event sponsors, as without them, the event would simply not be possible. You may not be aware, but there are huge costs are associated with hiring the GP Circuit, including medical, lap timers, and other resources.

BMW SuperFest Vaulinteers the day before the event setting up flags (fastest work ever seen in pit lane.... maybe)

Some event highlights of SuperFest 2025 include support from BMW Group Australia who kindly invited Pat James an avid BMW fan and talented storyteller with over 80k followers on IG (2pjz_), and 70K followers on his YouTube account. Pat has since released some incredible reels on social media on the event. Check them out!

This year, to celebrate 50 years of the 3 series, we decided to create a giant “3” on the skidpan where the car show was located, which looked fantastic on the drone footage. Well done to Luke Wise and Josh Zaiter from E30s of Sydney for creating the mammoth 3! At the start of the parade laps, we created four lines of a few hundred BMWs on the circuit straight to create a huge BMW carpark! Scuderia Auto-Art created awesome vibes in the pit paddock area with a DJ playing awesome tunes all day, not to mention their line up of awesome race cars including a E9 CSL racecar and G80 M3 in Malboro livery.

Our car show featured over 200 vehicles in the Show N Shine, and over 30 vehicles featured in our special judged vehicle display. Special thanks to Rob McBrien from BeeEms Hornsby and his team of judges for their efforts on the day. We were so pleased to have a much larger space to play with on the skidpan over the Figure 8 Ct from the previous year.

Our club committee were very busy ALL DAY selling club merchandise, answering queries, and helping with parade lap forms, huge thanks to David and Freya Hogg for working tirelessly to keep the club stand running all day.

Lastly, a huge thanks to Jeremy Sedley and Luke Wise, for their incredible support in sponsor management and keeping me on the straight and narrow managing the event. I could not have done it without them.

We are already busy planning SuperFest 2026 so please save the date in your diary - Sunday 18 October 2026!

Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone.

HERITAGE Where BMW

Meets the Future

For the second time running our good friends at Parramatta BMW and Castle Hill BMW put their hands up to be naming right sponsors of BMW SuperFest and boy did they bring some amazing cars to show off.

Being part of the set-up crew, I was able to have a sneak peak on the Saturday of what they had brought for the day. I was like a kid in a candy store as I was greeted by the Jenny Kee ‘Black Opal’ art car but that was just the start of it. It was like a who’s who of the latest models with an X7, X6 M, 7 series and all the M’s.

However, hiding in the back was Wilma, a 1973 BMW 2002. Honestly you could tell this car had been lovingly looked after as it looked good enough to be on the Parramatta BMW showroom floor as a brand-new car. There is just something about a classic BMW that you just can’t go past and before you knew it instead of setting up flags for the event we where all ogling the 2002. Luckly, we had Ash there to keep us all in line and we soon all got back to work or nothing would have been done.

Parramatta BMW and Castle Hill BMW really brough a fantastic mix of BMW heritage and modern marvels and it was a pleasure to have them so closely involved with BMW SuperFest once again.

Engines roared, chrome gleamed, and stories came alive at SuperFest 2025, the annual celebration organised by the NSW BMW Drivers Club. It was a day where decades of BMW history met the thrill of modern performance, and where passion for the marque was on full display.

Among the proud partners were Parramatta BMW and Castle Hill BMW, representing two generations of the same legacy. On one side, the classic beauty of a 1973 BMW 2002 “Wilma”, lovingly owned by Dealer Principal Peter Kallitsis, and the iconic Jenny Kee “Black Opal” Art Car – a dazzling reminder that BMW has always been as much about creativity as it

is about engineering. On the other, a lineup of the newest models – the X7, X6 M, 7 Series, M3, M2, and M4 Convertible – gleaming under the Sydney sun, each symbolising how far the brand has come.

For Parramatta BMW, the event was more than a showcase; it was a homecoming. With over 40 years of history, the dealership is one of Australia’s oldest, standing proudly on Sydney’s famous Automotive Alley. Its story is written in the hands and hearts of the people who work there – technicians who have spent over 35 years with the brand, who can recognise a BMW engine by sound alone, and who treat every service as an act of craftsmanship.

At the helm, Peter Kallitsis embodies that same spirit. Once a young sales consultant at Parramatta BMW, he has returned

decades later as Dealer Principal – leading the very team that first shaped his career.

And while Parramatta BMW carries the weight of heritage, its sister store, Castle Hill BMW, represents the next chapter: a boutique experience for a new generation of drivers in the Hills.

SuperFest was a celebration of more than cars. It was about connection. Between eras, between people, and between those who simply love to drive. For Parramatta BMW, it was a reminder that while models evolve and engines transform, passion for BMW never goes out of style.

SHOW N SHINE

A Celebration of Power, Passion, and Perfection

The BMW Drivers Club NSW once again delivered a show to remember with the second annual BMW SuperFest, held this year on the Sydney Motorsport Park skidpan. The expanded venue gave members and enthusiasts alike the perfect stage to show off their pride and joy — from classic icons to cutting-edge M machines — under the spring sunshine.

This year’s Show & Shine was proudly sponsored by Sydney Premium Detailing, whose support helped elevate the presentation of the cars and the overall experience for entrants and visitors. With a field of beautifully prepared BMWs spanning decades of design and engineering excellence, the judging panel had their work cut out for them.

Enthusiasts and sponsors alike walked the skidpan, appreciating the immaculate detailing, creative modifications, and authentic restorations that define our club’s passion for the BMW marque. Whether it was a tastefully tuned E46 M3, a concours-condition E30 325is, or the rare presence of Alpina models, there was something for every BMW lover to admire.

3 X THE FUN

Celebrating 50 Years of the BMW 3 Series

Every so often at a club event you get a moment where creativity, community and marque-heritage all align. At this year’s BMW SuperFest Show & Shine, held on the skidpan at Sydney Motorsport Park, we got exactly that — an eye-catching formation that paid tribute to a half-century of one of BMW’s most iconic vehicles: the 3-Series.

Planning the Formation

The idea was simple yet ambitious: park all participating cars in a formation that, from above, spells the number “3”. The reasoning? A nod to the 50th anniversary of the BMW 3 Series, launched in 1975. According to the official BMW Group website, the 3 Series celebrated “50 years, seven generations, a single promise: sheer driving pleasure.”

Behind the scenes, it was a labour of love and logistics. Two club members, Josh and Luke, mapped out the spacing and layout the day before the event. Then on the morning of the show, Josh — supported by his team from E30’s of Sydney — marshalled the cars into their positions, ensuring each machine was placed with precision. And yes, it worked — once the drone soared and captured the view from above, the “3” was unmistakable.

Why the 3 Series Matters

The significance of the 3 Series cannot be understated in BMW’s history — and as we aligned our cars into that number, it felt fitting to reflect on its role. As the BMW Group points out:

- The 3 Series began in 1975 as a successor to the BMW 02 series, combining compact dimensions, rear-wheel drive and a driver-focused cockpit.

- Over its seven generations it became BMW’s best-selling model series, with more than 20 million customers worldwide.

- Its DNA features sporty handling, precise steering, rearwheel drive (and more recently xDrive all-wheel drive), and a design language that emphasises the kidney grille, crisp lines and dynamic stance.

- The 3 Series also pioneered many technological firsts in its class — diesel, plug-in hybrids, clever chassis engineering, and so on.

For many of our club members, the 3 Series is more than a car: it’s the one that made BMW ownership accessible, fun, and community-driven. So forming a giant “3” on the skidpan wasn’t just a gimmick — it was a statement of collective pride.

The

Day

of the Event

As cars rolled in early for the Show & Shine, the atmosphere was electric. The skidpan provided a generous, flat canvas — perfect for our formation idea. Under the guidance of Josh and his marshals, each owner was guided into position. Flags, cones and markers helped set the spacing so that from the moment the drone lifted off, the formation read fluently. There was a good range of models represented: heritage 3 Series examples, newer G-series models, tuned variants, original condition cars — all shoulder-to-shoulder in one large “3”. It was a visual that echoed the diversity of the 3 Series lineage, and by extension the depth of our club’s membership.

The drone shots, stills and video will make excellent memories for the magazine, the club archives and social feeds — and they serve as a terrific backdrop for our feature pages.

Recognising the Team Effort

Of course, an endeavour like this doesn’t happen with one person alone. We’d like to acknowledge:

- Josh and Luke: for the spatial planning the day before and managing the layout.

Photos by: AJGreen Photography and Keiran Fitzgibbon

- The marshals from E30’s of Sydney: who dedicated time to coordinate the cars on the day.

- All club members who arrived early and followed direction, ensuring the formation worked seamlessly.

- And finally, all participating owners: your willingness to be part of the formation brought the concept to life.

A Moment to Reflect and Look Ahead

As we reflect on the 50 years of the 3 Series, this formation was more than just a photo opportunity — it was a celebration of what binds us together as the BMW Drivers Club NSW: the cars we love, the history we honour and the community we build.

And with our eyes set on next year’s SuperFest, we ask: what will the next creative “canvas” be? A giant “M” for the M-models? A marking of 50, 60 or 70 years of BMW culture? Whatever it is, we know it’ll be bold — just like the 3 Series has been.

TOP BILLING Displayed Judged

The

best of the Best

As part of this year’s BMW SuperFest festivities, the Display Judged Event brought a new level of detail and competition to the Show & Shine format. Unlike the sponsor-selected categories held elsewhere on the skidpan, this judged event followed a formal assessment structure, with each car undergoing a thorough inspection across multiple areas of presentation and condition.

To ensure fairness and consistency, each vehicle was reviewed by a panel of six judges who where broken ito pairs for the following areas: Engine Bay, Interior and Exterior.

FOUR CATEGORIES, ONE STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE

Cars were grouped into four distinct classes to ensure fair comparison across generations and production eras:

CATEGORY A — G SERIES

The newest models in the competition, showcasing modern engineering, high-tech interiors and the latest in BMW design language.

CATEGORY B — F

SERIES

Representing the 2010s era of BMW, these vehicles combined modern performance with maturing technology and design refinement.

CATEGORY C — E SERIES (1995–2013)

A fan-favourite category covering icons such as the E46, E39, E9x and more—beloved for their balance of analogue feel and modern capability.

CATEGORY D — PRE-1995

The heritage heart of the display, featuring classic BMWs that laid the foundation for the brand’s reputation. From early 3 Series examples to grand tourers, these cars brought nostalgia and craftsmanship to the forefront.

BEST IN SHOW: A V10 TRIUMPH

The standout of the judged field—and the recipient of Best in Show—was Andrew Cartledge’s stunning E60 M5. With its legendary naturally-aspirated V10, immaculate presentation and meticulous attention to detail across engine, interior and exterior, Andrew’s M5 impressed every member of the judging panel. It was a fine example of how passion and care can elevate an already iconic performance sedan into a true showpiece.

ON PARADE BMW’s On

SuperFest takes over SMSP

This year BMW SuperFest decided to up the ante when it came to the parade laps. Why just do it when you can also capture it for the world to see. So the planned hatched to hire a drone pilot to make sure the perfect view of everyone lined up on the main straight of Sydney Motorsport Park, an image that has become quite famous globally of late.

But to really make it something special we need to find the perfect pace cars. So a quick phone call to the NSW Highway patrol and we had the perfect lead cars, Club President and first lady in their BMW E46 M3, two highway patrol cars and their community engagement vehicle a BMW iX xDrive 40 Sport.

However the true sight was everyone behind the four leading cars. I am pretty sure almost every model of the BMW Marque was represented. Everything from back to the 2002 days to the newest 2025 models. Now I could go one and on how amazing I looked, how the line of cars was so long the lead cars meet up with the tail end, but instead I will just let the photos do the talking. This is what BMW SuperFest is all about.

A Final look Inside BMW SuperFest

ROUND 4

The final round of 2025

The final round of the 2025 SuperSprint Championship couldn’t have had a better stage — right in the heart of BMW SuperFest at Sydney Motorsport Park. This was our second visit to the GP Circuit this year, the first being the BMW vs Porsche Challenge back in May — and once again, it delivered.

Round 4 saw a huge field — 104 drivers — split neatly into four speed groups, with 26 cars in each. Every group enjoyed six full runs, and the most laps completed by a single driver was 31 — roughly 121 km of track time in one day. The average was around 21 laps, or about 82 km.

Behind the scenes, our volunteer team was working just as hard: 8 scrutineers and 10 flag marshals - countless others at Sign-on, Race Control, timing and logistics

To give you an idea of scale — each flag marshal watched 1,658 cars flash past their post throughout the day. So if you were thinking “gee, Andrew must be a maths genius for crunching all of that”… sorry to disappoint — full credit for those stats goes to Bob Williams.

On Track

Conditions varied — a little bit of light rain, cooler track temps — and many drivers reported front-end grip being a challenge around the GP layout. Then again… name a driver who doesn’t want more grip?

Fastest lap of the day went to Jordan Cox in the SouthernBM M2 Competition (F87, 2019) — a blistering 1:35.249 — in the special Scuderia Auto Art class.

Next quickest was Sam Hou in his 2018 M3 F80, running 1:37.634 in the Extreme Mods / Roll Cage class.

There were standout moments everywhere — but a memorable one was watching James Hughes save his 130i E87 from swapping ends through Turn 8. Quality car control — and caught on camera.

And then we have the day’s hero story: “Kermit” — the Peak Performance BMW M4 F82. After the first run the car developed injector issues — and with its setup, they couldn’t just pinch spares off another M4 in pit lane. So a team member drove all the way back to the Parramatta workshop, grabbed parts, and Kermit was back out on track setting competitive times. Dedication!

Crowd Favourite

The most talked-about car on track wasn’t necessarily the fastest — but it was arguably the most iconic. Denis Mamo’s 635CSi JPS Tribute.

Something about that gold-on-black JPS livery never fails to stop you in your tracks — and seeing the car driven hard, not just sitting pretty, was genuinely special.

A big thank you to all drivers, volunteers, officials and supporters — what a way to close the championship, and what a perfect environment to do it in.

Roll on 2026.
