Oh my word. Has The Edge (belatedly) discovered the most amazing children’s TV programme on the CBeebies channel of all time, or what? It’s called In the Night Garden... and, well, it is absolutely immense. From L to R, the characters you see above are Makka Pakka, Igglepiggle, The Tombliboos and Upsy Daisy, although the positive jewel in the crown is The Pinky Ponk and the ludicrous noises it makes. Makka Pakka - Lives in an ickle cave at the edge of the garden and likes nothing more than collecting and washing little stones - oh and he’ll often wash the faces of the other characters too. Travels around the garden pushing his Og-Pog, which carries his soap and sponge, his uff-uff dryer and his oh so special trumpet. Igglepiggle - Physical and energetic, a well-loved teddy who is always jumping and bouncing about. He’s curious and adventurous, but also vulnerable (eh?) and modest. Despite his energy he is often in need of reassurance and comfort, which he gets from his best friend Upsy Daisy (Bizarre News indeed) and his red blanket. The Tombliboos - There are three of ’em. Unn, who is red and green. Ooo, who is brown and pink. And Eee, who is pink and yellow. They live together in an extraordinary bush (oh titter ye not) where they enjoy nothing better than stacking and sorting their special blocks, banging their drums and making tunes on their piano. Upsy Daisy - A very happy and optimistic dolly. Loves nothing more than to dance through the garden and often convinces the other characters to join her. One of her favourite things is her bed, which has a mind of its own and can often be seen chasing her around the garden (OMG)! Oh sure, there are also The Pontipines, The Wottingers, The Haahoos, The Tittifers and The Ninky Nonk. But trust your friend Max Headroom when he tells you that the undoubted star of the show is The Pinky Ponk, which makes incessant farting sounds of magnificent proportions. The Pinky Ponk (and The Ninky Nonk) are the only forms of transport for the characters of the garden, but they couldn’t be more different. Whilst The Ninky Nonk is a funny kind of train that careers through hedges and clambers up and down the many abundant trees in the garden, The Pinky Ponk is a weird kind of airship which glides gracefully about, providing wonderful aerial views of the garden for all those who board her, as well as perpetually making the most splendiferously unique sounds.

FART! MORE NEXT MONTH, FOLKS! Page 28
