In 1984, the Mollica Family purchased the original operation, opened at this location, and began their long, dedicated mission to establish Casa Mia today as a place that offers one of Niagara Region’s finest dining experiences. Recently, Casa Mia underwent extensive renovations. This major undertaking has netted a remarkable renaissance, and brings with it an authentic air of subtle elegance that flows through its lively new setting - a trattoria straight from the pages of Mediterranean history. Casa Mia also houses a piano lounge/bar (Live Jazz every Friday and Saturday night) and a fourteen seat private wine cellar making it an ideal place to entertain any crowd. Located on Niagara’s famous Wine Route, the Casa Mia fronts one of Niagara Region’s oldest and most historically significant roadways, Portage Road. Originally, it was an Indian Trail which later became the route for explorers and traders as they “portaged” between the Niagara River above the falls between Chippawa and Queenston. Thus the name of the thoroughfare today. Beyond its unique ambience, Casa Mia’s essential “ingredient” for providing an unforgettable dining experience, as all regular patrons know and new patrons quickly discover, is our source of culinary magic - Mother Luciana (Lucy) and son, Claudio. Together they coax from the kitchen what our guests come to Casa Mia for - one divine, mouth watering creation after another. Such creations have won a host of medals, innumerable accolades and an enviable degree of customer loyalty. Casa Mia’s reputation has been recognized with two Misty Awards in 1998 and 1999 for Best Fine Dining Restaurant in the Niagara Region. It has also been featured in several media sources including Restaurants by Sara Waxman, Chef’s Table and Daytime on Cogeco (Cable 10), New World Wine Tour on ONtv, AM Buffalo, City T.V.’s Breakfast Television, and in dozens of local and international newspapers and magazines. Now, in 2007, the recognition continues with the Top Choice Award for Top Italian Restaurant in the Niagara region.
