KEVIN HOLMES
Kevin Holmes of Houston, Texas, combines his breadth of industry expertise with an unwavering dedication to building relationships to lead The Holmes Team with CrossCountry Mortgage. “I have a consultative approach – I’m not a hard sales guy. I take the time to really understand my clients, their needs, desires, outlook, and goals; and most importantly, I listen, listen, listen.”
After graduating from college in 2001 as a finance major and self proclaimed “numbers guy,” Kevin launched his career working for Merrill Lynch on a team of financial advisors. “We did everything,” he recalls, “from retirement planning to investments to mortgages. Eventually I decided to venture off and do the lending side – it always piqued my interest more than anything – so I went off on my own and worked for a small boutique mortgage broker in
Los Angeles.” He also spent ten years at Morgan Stanley as a Senior Private Banker. “I have a strong knowledge of the high net individual market and jumbo loans, but I always wanted to return to the intimacy and relationships that the mortgage industry facilitated.”
Kevin leverages his twenty three years of mortgage lending experience (totaling over $1 billion in collective home loans) at his present position as Branch Manager and Vice President at CrossCountry Mortgage, where he leads a nimble team that consists of a full time processor, assistant, and a pair of junior loan officers. “We run a small shop with our own niche in Houston. We cover the entire area, but we specialize in the southwest, and we really base our business around strong relationships with REALTORS®, our sphere of influence, and our current client base.” This emphasis on the interpersonal side of the enterprise allows Kevin to boast a book of business that is 100% referral based, and he prides himself on his team’s ability to accommodate every loan available to serve his clients. CrossCountry is a direct lender for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA. He works with dozens of JUMBO lenders which affords him many options for his jumbo loan clientele. In addition, he offers an in-house ALT-A product suite which includes, but is not limited to, bank statement programs, DSCR programs, full doc and many more. Additionally, Kevin and CrossCountry Mortgage partner with countless broker options. “With everything we have to offer, if I can’t find an option for any borrower, no one can.”
While Kevin and his team rely on a robust CRM to follow up with clients on a regular basis, he finds that his availability beyond the expected points of contact make him a staple in his local industry. “I don’t ‘dial-for-dollars,’ but I do make sure that my clients know: once a client, always a client. I build a long standing, meaningful relationship with them built on trust, and they know that if there’s anything they need beyond the closing table, they can contact me.” This white glove level of service extends to his referral partners and REALTORS®, and he insists that his relationships are built around symbiosis and interdependence. “I just market myself as a partner. We’re all here to do one job, and I work to make it all as seamless as possible.” These relationships have helped Kevin fund approximately $100 million in home loans while serving as VP Branch Manager.


Beyond his professional connections, Kevin goes to great lengths to support his local Houston community. He is a consistent attendant at his children’s PTO events, and a dedicated sponsor of local baseball leagues and charities (particularly St. Jude’s and the Wounded Warriors).
When asked about his plans for the future of his business, his response is short, sweet, and full of content: “Mortgage is my passion – I like helping people, talking to them, explaining the ins and outs. I want to keep doing what I’m doing – build my business, serve my clients, and watch my kids play baseball!”
