Greg Asch of Bernardsville, New Jersey, has built a successful real estate enterprise on a foundation of consistent growth, deep hometown knowledge, and a dedication to candor and sincerity. “I like to grow my team slowly, and really invest a lot of resources into my agents to give them every opportunity to succeed. I work differently than a lot of teams – I am highly selective from the outset, because I like to really train and mentor my agents. Some people think ‘you train them up and then they leave you,’ but that hasn’t been my experience so far.”

Before entering the world of real estate, Greg graduated from Penn State with a major in finance and pursued a career selling compliance and analytical tools with a financial services company, but several years and promotions later, he wanted to do something more fulfilling. “I did the nine-to-five desk job experience, and I was good at it – but I needed a change of pace.”

Deciding to study psychology, he attended UC Berkeley and eventually enrolled in a PhD program at University of Nevada, Reno, only to discover he felt pulled in a different direction. “The world of academia just wasn’t for me,” he recalls, “I lived in the Philippines for about a year and traveled around southeast Asia. When I returned home to New Jersey, I expected to land in a similar job, but something had changed.”

When he got back to New Jersey, Greg ultimately decided that his ideal profession would combine his personal experiences as an investor and renovator with his academic acumen in the worlds of finance and psychology. “It’s worked a lot better than I expected,” he exudes. “I love the whole structure of the job: the freedom, the entrepreneurial environment – the support is there if you want it, but I’ve always been the type of person to do everything myself. The fallacy that gets some people caught up is, they say ‘you set your own hours,’ but if you want to be good at this job, then your clients set your hours. The workload can be intense, but that doesn’t matter to me because it’s all self imposed, and you see a direct result from your efforts.”

After more than five years growing and expanding his independent business, Greg presently leads the Greg Asch Real Estate Team with RE/MAX Achievers. In 2022, they ranked in the top 50 RE/MAX teams in New Jersey, and Greg received the RE/MAX Hall of Fame award, as well as the NJAR Circle of Excellence Sales Award. They service mostly Morris and Somerset counties, and Greg specializes in the nuanced architecture around his state. “With my renovation background, I love to highlight the different construction styles buyers can expect. I take great pains to learn about the nuts and bolts of homes – certain characteristics are indicative of different building periods and styles, especially in New Jersey.”

In addition to educating and supporting his clients and mentees, Greg goes to great lengths to bolster his greater community by participating in broker sponsored commission donations, choosing to donate five percent of his own commissions to a charity chosen by his clients, and supporting international clean water initiatives. “All of my charitable attention goes toward clean water – at a basic human level, it’s ridiculous that we can’t get everyone clean water right now.” When he’s not supporting his local and global community, Greg enjoys everything musical: going to concerts, playing drums in his band, and attending the local Stirling Street Fair!
