TRISTAN ‘TJ’ MARTIN
Specializing in real estate development and sales on the Emerald Coast of Florida, REALTOR® Tristan ‘TJ’ Martin has built an incredible business that continues to grow year after year. He began his career working for DR Horton Inc., focusing on sales and construction. From there, TJ moved to Holiday Builders, where he was involved with every stage of new construction projects from their design to the closing table. Eventually, TJ decided to start his own development and real estate team, which lead to a partnership with Nathan Abbott, a highly esteemed agent in the Florida panhandle area. While they initially started their own brokerage, the duo then moved their team over to eXp so that they could concentrate more on the front end of their business. They’ve expanded to manage 55 agents producing over $365 million in production last year. From single family homes to townhomes and condos, The Abbott Martin Group truly do it all and do it with skill, dedication, and expertise.
TJ’s business runs almost entirely off of referrals from his wide sphere of influence. He and his team take care of every client, making sure they stay informed throughout the real estate process. He follows an “intimate touch campaign” for each client, which means that they receive multiple means of contact throughout the year. “I try to keep it real and make sure my relationships stay intact because I believe relationships are what create transactions,” says TJ. “My approach is non-invasive, but my clients know that I’m present in their lives.” When a deal has been completed, TJ makes a point to welcome his clients to North Florida with all the best recommendations to truly enjoy the Emerald Coast lifestyle.
As the leader of his team, TJ spends a lot of time helping agents learn new strategies as they grow in their passion for the industry. He runs a sales meeting every Tuesday, where all of the agents touch base about new listings and their potential buyers and sellers. “Building these relationships and networking, both internally and externally is essential in our business. It’s how we make a lot of our deals,” explains TJ. Both his and Nathan’s sisters also work for their team. Of his sister’s growth since starting in real estate, TJ says, “It’s been so exciting to watch her become a strong voice in our marketplace. I’m her biggest cheerleader and am grateful to be able to work together.”
The Abbott Martin Group participates in many local sponsorship opportunities, particularly during the holiday season. They are avid supporters of the My Wish Foundation, which partners with the Sacred Heart Hospital to support children with cancer and their families. TJ also supports local vendors whenever possible, which he says frequently results in referrals. In his spare time, TJ enjoys being out on the boat with his family and their two dogs, a Pomeranian, and a Chocolate Lab. He also enjoys fishing and golfing.
As he looks to the future of his business, TJ plans to continue to grow, particularly when it comes to adding more development projects. Last year, The Abbott Martin Group completed 509 transactions and they are aiming even higher for 2023. For TJ, the most important motivation for his career will always be helping others, whether they are his clients or team members. “Being able to help change people’s financial trajectory or build the house they’ve always dreamed of is what fuels my passion for this business. I can’t see myself doing anything else.”
