Building stronger

communities is at the core of my work as a local state MP

Tony’s understanding of the needs and aspirations of the community comes from his shared history, because he’s lived in the local area with his family for over 50 years... Tony was educated in the local area, attending Evanston Primary and Gawler High School

Tony’s faith is important to him; here he is celebrating his first Communion at St Brigid’s Church

Tony graduating with his economics degree; and, below, with his mum and two sons, Raffaele and Stefan, at Raff’s graduation

Tony served as Mayor of Gawler for six years

Tony has engaged with young people to make sure he understands their views on a range of issues

Tony has held a number of information sessions to ensure the community is kept informed of development in their area

Tony believes in reaching out to residents and meeting with them in their neighbourhood

Tony regularly visits local residents to get a clearer picture of issues affecting them

...he’s successfully lobbied for the infrastructure required for a vibrant and sustainable community. The new lights at the Tiver Road intersection which Tony lobbied for will improve road safety in the Evanston Park area

Tony is proud to support local residents who work hard to rehabilitate our local rivers Tony worked alongside his federal and local government counterparts and the Virgara family to deliver the Angle Vale Sports Centre

Students have many ideas on how their schools and towns can be improved, and Tony is always happy to listen

Tony proudly supports a number of end of year school celebrations, particularly for children with special needs

Tony’s parents instilled in him the importance of a good education and career as a sound foundation for a successful life... Tony appreciates the important role our kindergartens play in the development of our children

Children benefit from a broad education, including visits to Parliament House

Teachers and School SSOs play an important part in our children’s development, and Tony joins the community in thanking them on International Teachers Day and International SSOs Day

Food and wine producers are important businesses in the electorate and Tony promotes them whenever he can

Farmers are a key small business and the lifeblood of Australia. Tony supported the introduction of a farming code of conduct to help them when they have a commercial dispute

...Tony strongly supports small businesses because they help create important job opportunities for local people.

Mining offers small business a wide range of opportunities. Tony lobbied for assistance for this Roseworthy-based business

Housing provides many economic benefits, so Tony is a great supporter of the National Rental Affordability Scheme that promotes building activities and housing affordability

Tony believes our community is enriched through the selfless work of volunteers...

Caring for the most vulnerable in our community is at the heart of volunteering

Tony proudly supports Willo’s Men’s Shed which helps men of all ages with support and undertakes a number of community projects

Our hospitals value the contribution of our volunteers, while the Gawler Community House provides a range of services to the local community

Tony is proud to support the work of service club volunteers, especially those that devote time to children and young people

Volunteers help keep our community graffiti free

...and our community celebrations and faiths help us express our diversity and shared values.

A range of festivals and holy days help us to celebrate our cultural diversity.

For many years, Tony has celebrated the service of people in our emergency services and armed forces

Ceremonies like ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day help the community to acknowledge the sacrifice made by our defence personnel

Tony and his office support the suicide prevention network, offering a helping hand to those in need

Tony lobbied hard to get the Willaston Roundabout constructed to make the intersection safer

Our sense of belonging and safety reflects our belief in the importance of community...

SA Police do a great job in keeping our community safe, and Tony believes there is a role for all of us. That is why he is a strong supporter of Neighbourhood Watch

Tony works closely with community-based road safety groups like the Gawler Road Safety Committee to prevent tragedies on our roads

Safety near schools is important. That is why Tony fought for a crossing near the new Gawler & District College

Tony regularly meets with seniors who live in residential parks

Tony holds regular forums with seniors groups to help him keep in touch with our seniors’ issues

...and Tony knows this is particularly important to seniors in our community...
