NT: What is your definition of marriage? ET: “100% commitment from both parties”. In terms of fatherhood Eddie feels he missed out a lot in life by not being there for Jill (his daughter) who now works for Eddie. “I lead a different kind of life and now I know why some people grow out of the type of lifestyle I have had. I had a pretty wild life”. Interestingly enough Eddie never knew of Jill’s existence until she was 23 years old. Her mother never told Eddie of Jill’s existence and this made him feel betrayed. He never forgave her yet he acknowledges un-forgiveness is not necessarily healthy. Eddie feels the youth of today have so many more chances and opportunities than when he grew up. When we looked at things a little more in-depth however, in terms of how much new debt load the current government is taking on the back of our children and grandchildren, Eddie acknowledged the perceived chances and opportunities were not necessarily as real as some would like us to naïvely believe. Eddie feels mandatory military service would be great. If he had to do it again he would serve. “It teaches maturity, discipline and respect. It helps you to grow up. A lot of youth out there could use it.” Eddie likes gun control … “when the gun is loaded”. NT: Assisted suicide? ET: “They already have it. It’s called hospices” NT: Suicide? ET: “I have no respect for anybody that would do this. I never thought of it for myself”. NT: Death penalty? ET:“For it”. NT: What is the purpose of a man’s existence? ET: “To build a perfect motorcycle. There are motorcycle builders, I am a motorcycle lover. I want to die on a bike.”

Comment on the following: “The Me first mindset has led our society to the verge of internal collapse. Escapism, perversions, AIDS, unwanted pregnancies, violence, political scandal, and family breakups are all symptoms of our modern day madness and our obsession with Me. Before complaint became a national way of life, it was considered an honor to serve someone”. Bill Hybels – “Descending into Greatness” Eddie: “Dude you lost me on this one. This is kind of deep for me. I’m gonna pass. I was just a music major you know.” (Chuckle) NT: Word of advice for future aspiring industry stakeholders? ET: “Put your patent attorney on speed dial!” NT: If you could change anything about the past what would it be? ET: “I would’ve been a better man for Jody.” At the tail end of our conversation, Eddie and I were exchanging anecdotal stories from our past. Then we got talking about family life while he was showing me some of his very first motorcycle drawings buried in the depth of cupboards in his wall unit. I was flipping-out at the privilege of seeing these with my own eyes. I think I managed to earn Eddie’s trust to a certain degree and I felt as if the dim shining light of a new found friendship was beginning. He proudly showed me pictures of Jody. An elegant tall and beautiful woman with facial features reflecting strength, loyalty, confidence, class and beauty altogether. Then I pulled out my own family pictures and declared “my treasure on earth Eddie”. Anyone who has seen my wife and also knows her will agree with me that the qualities I speak of here above in reference to Jody are only a small fraction of a long list of other qualities she has. Then out of the blue and without any prompting from me as we were exchanging “Wows” looking at each other’s girl, Eddie said under his breath “life in the fast lane caused me to be distracted from things that truly matter in life”. When I met Eddie for this interview he was single. Keeping in touch with each other I found out as it turns out, it seems Jody and he may have rekindled the old flame. Riding side by side I was looking at the scenery and pondering about how awesome of a time that was. I looked at Eddie beside me who appeared in deep thoughts and I said “Eddie! How ‘bout signing a little tune out loud?”. Both laughing we went off to feeling the wind in our faces. Night Train
