Center Grove High School Girls Track & Field Senior Tribute
The IHSAA canceled the 2020 High School Spring Sports Season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This ended the high school careers for 15 Center Grove Girls Track & Field seniors. We are honoring these outstanding young ladies with this special salute. CG Girls Track & Field head coach, Wes Dodson, had the following praise for his seniors.
AVERIE BAKER “Averie is a new runner to the track team. She was going to be a sprinter. In the first month of practice, it was evident that Averie was really going to help the team. She had already shown that she could run varsity on either of the relays and we were excited to see where things would go.”
TEAGAN BIXLER “Teagan has been a varsity pole vaulter the last three years. She has really progressed with her time at CG. Teagan was a favorite to qualify for the state meet this year. She is going to go on to pole vault next year in college.”
JORDAN CASEY “Jordan has been throwing since her freshman year. She has been a varsity thrower since she joined the team. She loves being part of the team and she loves to compete.” team. She likes to focus on the 800 meters. Allie is known for her fierce determination and toughness at the line.”
PAIGE DWYER “Paige has always been a runner who is willing to run any race the coaches ask. Everyone knows you will always get her best effort. She always is one of the hardest workers at every practice.”
GABBY ELLIS ”Gabby is an 800 meters specialist that has run all four years. She ran varsity as a junior and led our four-by-800 team to a county championship, blowing all the other girls on the track away.”
ALAINNA FRANKEL “Alaina came out for the track team for the first time this year. She didn’t have to focus on basketball anymore so she decided to lend her talents to the track team. She was going to be a great 800 meters runner.”
GABRIELLE HARRELL “Gabrielle has been a four-year varsity runner for the track team. She qualified for the regional in all three years of high school. She has run in the four-by-800, 800, 1600 and 3200. She will leave a legacy of one of the most dedicated runners to ever
be a part of the team. She is continuing her career at the University of Indianapolis.”
MARIELLE HARRELL “Marielle has been on the track team for four years, but got her first varsity experience last year as a junior. She ran the 1600 meters in the conference meet and ran as a member of the four-by-800 meters. Marielle never let a practice go by where she didn’t get better.”
MAGGIE JOSEPH “Maggie started her track career last year as a junior. She is a sprinter who always brings a great attitude to practice and makes everyone better.”
JENNA PARKER “Jenna started her track career last year as a junior. She is a sprinter who enjoys challenging herself and making her teammates better.”

CLAIRE RAKE “Claire decided to run track for the first time this year. After dominating on the basketball floor, she wanted to see if she could do the same for the track team. Claire was going to sprint and help the team in long jump and high jump.”
SAM RASMUSSEN “Sam is a 1600 and 3200 meters runner. Sam grew up as a soccer player, but with a ton of hard work, she turned herself into one of the best distance runners at Center Grove.”
ALYSSA TERRELL “Alyssa is an extremely versatile sprinter. She has participated in the 100 to the 400. She was always a young lady who loved to be on the relays and was always ready to run the four-by-400.”
KIYAH YEAST “Kiyah is the most decorated athlete in the history of Center Grove women’s track. She medaled at the state meet all three years it was possible. Last year, she placed third in the 100 meters at the state meet. She is a MIC champion and she is the owner of the 100 meters, 200 meters, and fourby-100 meters school records. She is going on to continue her wonderful career at the University of Louisville.”
“The 2020 Girls Track and Field class has been a very special class,” Coach Dodson added. “Not only did they win four consecutive Sectionals, but they also had a conference runner-up and a third place finish. They contributed many school records and many appearances in the State Finals. More importantly, they are a wonderful group of women.”
