Natural Resources Director Rachel McCain
Dv-laa-ha~ everyone, my name is Rachel McCain and I am your new Natural Resources Director. I am thrilled to be back on the Smith River and working in support of Tolowa Dee-ni’ priorities regarding resource management and environmental resiliency. I was raised in Smith River and Gasquet, attended high school and college in Crescent City and Arcata, and most of my career has been with other natural resource agencies and organizations in this region, including the NPS, CDFW, BLM, and NMFS. I look forward to using the experience I have gained as a field biologist and community advocate to further the many restoration and monitoring projects that TDN has undertaken in recent years. Outside of work, I enjoy saltwater fishing, hunting, mushroom picking, gardening, and birdwatching. Please come by the Natural Resources office anytime to chat, brainstorm, give a new book or trail recommendation, or share a cup of coffee. Shu’ shaa! The Dr. Nancy Foster
