Breakout Session 3: 1:15 - 2:15 PM Session 23: Putting Movement Into Your Classroom (Elementary Edition) Room 511 Presenter: Carla Cruickshanks School/District/Organization: Newberry College Session Description This interactive presentation will engage participants in physical activity that incorporates core content standards. Emphasis will be placed on the early childhood, elementary, middle level, and secondary education classrooms with a brief discussion on the importance of combining the two. Participants will gain knowledge in how to organize the classroom that will engage students in physical activity while mastering specific core content standards from Math, Science, ELA, and History. Session 24: Positively Decreasing Disruption and Discipline Referrals Room 512 Presenter Name: Jennifer Rodecki School/District/Organization: Cherokee County Schools Session Description This presentation is designed to teach educators how to implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) into the classroom. Participants will learn how to positively decrease disruption and discipline referrals by setting up a proactive classroom. Class-wide strategies such as token economies, creating and teaching rules and expectations, and positive reinforcement will be discussed. Individualized behavior modification procedures for students with and without disabilities will also be covered.
