The Nursery has continued to thrive and the children have experienced and enjoyed many varied activities.

This year has seen the increase with the deliverance of British Values. Teaching children British Values has always been part of our day to day curriculum. We teach children to take turns, share and to talk about things and ideas important to them; at the same time being respectful, kind and helpful to others. All children are individual and are respected for their choices, understanding we live in a multicultural world.

Celebrations of British Values have included St. Valentine’s Day, Shrove Tuesday, St. David’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and St. George’s Day, to name but a few. We also celebrated the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We had many children dressing up as a Royal couple and sharing cake with each other.

The Woodpeckers and Owls have participated in fun language activities this year with Madam Véron. The Woodpeckers have enjoyed French through singing songs and playing recognition games. The Owls have experience French, German and Spanish by learning animal names, body parts, numbers and colours. Madam Véron's sessions are fun, easy to learn and with maximum participation by all.

Swimming, of course, with Mrs Hinchliffe and Becky are always enjoyed by everyone, learning splashing, floating, swimming strokes and playing water polo.

The Owls, under the guidance of Mrs Stow and fellow team members, have again exceeded their ‘working garden’, growing and nurturing tomatoes, pumpkins, runner beans, peas, lettuce, potatoes, as well as many different flowers. The children made lettuce sandwiches for their healthy snack in the mornings. When they cultivated and washed the potatoes, Harrison Caterers cooked them and everyone enjoyed eating them for their lunch.

Mrs Stow retired this summer but has left us a wealth of knowledge so we may continue her important and enthusiastic passion and inspiration for learning in the environment.
