Beware of nasty flu-bug

I just can’t believe how quickly a bug can spread. On Sunday I had a lovely lunch with my family to celebrate Mother’s Day. Then 24 hours later my tummy is queasy and I find out my nephews and sister-in-law have caught the sickness bug. Just twelve hours after that, I am enjoying the same agony as them, as well as my brother. Warning: stay away from anyone who says they have tummy pains and a sick taste in their mouth as this bug is not nice! If you’re one of the unlucky ones to catch it then make sure you get yourself a bunch of bananas as they will be the only thing you’ll want to eat! Michelle, London via iPhone

FRENCH NOT FAIR TO SOUTH AFRICANS For years I have been bewildered as to why the South African passport has French on the cover? We can’t even travel easily to France and need a visa! So why the French writing? The unfairness is irritating. Cheryl Tebbutt, South Norwood

LIBYA ACTION IS A MISTAKE In response to Hasani Hasani’s letter “Libya action is right” (1440), frankly I’m perturbed with how out of control the situation in Libya is getting. US president Barack Obama and UK prime minister David Cameron gave the impression they could knock Gaddafi over in a week, but nearly a month on the civil war has turned into one big fat stalemate with no end in sight. Meanwhile Nato airstrikes are accidentally killing the

rebels they are meant to be helping! It all serves as a timely reminder that military action is never a quick fix. Billy, Finchley

CUTS EQUAL CRIME I just don’t get it. The government want us to work, so we work. Then they make all these economic cuts so it’s difficult for us to work and leading families into poverty. Have they gone bonkers or are they just greedy? This isn’t the way to go in my opinion. It’s going to lead to more crime and debt for this country. Anon, via tntmagazine.com

I AIN’T NO HOLLABACK GIRL I read Rebecca Kent’s Hollaback! feature (TNT 1440) and, although I take my hat off to girls standing up to sexual harassment, I did wonder if being whistled at in the street really counts as such. I’m now

in my mid-30s and have observed with alarm how this sort of attention dwindles after 29! I used to take it as my due that men would stare at me in the street and, although I had to mentally brace myself when I walked past a building site, I did find it flattering being wolf-whistled and shouted at. Now that the “harassment” has stopped, I realise guys didn’t do it indiscriminately – they were showing their appreciation that I was young and hot. Now I’m not, and they don’t. Boo! Sarah, Clapham
