Three Boys Arguing Š 2003 Amy Arbus When I was asked to lead a workshop photographing Easter in Sicily, I was told to leave my flash at home. My students and I would be allowed to photograph the reenactment of the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, as played out in tiny towns all over the island. I was told that photographs would go unnoticed, but flash would be disruptive. We were working at all hours of the night photographing in extremely low-light situations. The limitation was liberating.
