Your Weekly Commitment Scheduler is a ver y important tool

 If you don’t understand your scheduler, or you think a store visit is missing from your scheduler, please reach out to your DS immediately.  Please work stores on the days they are scheduled. Missing a scheduled visit prompts our clients to question our service commitment which could result in a loss of client work. OUCH ~! A missed visit on the day it is scheduled, also hurts your compliance percentage. If a scheduled visit is not going to be made, you should notify your Supervisor immediately.

What will your compliance be this week? 100% or OUCH?

IN-STORE Relationships & Vendor Logs  It is TNG Policy that you sign the Vendor Log in stores upon each visit. This alerts the stores that you are or were in the store for service. When you sign in, you should be indicating the services you are completing.

Books  Your in-store relationships with Managers and Scanning Coordinators establishes the needed communication and support of our service. Managers need to know you are there and working. Please make sure you are talking to in-store personnel on each visit.

POCKET TRACKER – don’t forget to “refresh” ever y day

 If you use Pocket Tracker, a "Refresh" is required on the days you work -preferably once before beginning work and once at the end of the day. This is to have the most up-to-date information from the system for use within Pocket Tracker, and also to transmit all data that may be stored in the phone application.  When using PocketTracker, be sure to watch the notification bar when "refreshing." The notification bar will confirm the transmission of data by showing you "Data Synchronized Successfully" and "PocketTracker ™ Load Complete."  If these do not appear during the refresh process, it's a good chance that data DID NOT transmit to the server.

Answering sur veys when equipment is missing or programs are refused on your ser vice visit: - If equipment is missing in a store (PDN, NPC, FE RACKS) or the programs are being refused on your service visit, please respond accordingly on the survey with an explanation as to why the store could not be serviced. Include status of equip (trashed, etc.) and a Mgrs name and any reasons for the removal of equipment or refusal of programs. If a Manager says their floor space is too small, please upload a picture to the survey of the area. You should then notify your DS of the situation so they can alert the Account Manager.

Handheld Stores: A broken handheld is not a reason for Frontline not being completed in any chain as ALL stores are attached to the surveys for FLM and should/can still be worked if your Handheld is broken, including Kroger Stores.

The TNG employee is to check in with store manager & pharmacy manager upon arrival at store and explain what task they are there to perform.

2. The next step will be to follow the PDF file attached on the step by step guide to changing out the wires on the PDN, including the spare battery and charger behind the counter. The tools the supervisor will need is a Phillips head screwdriver and a pair of pliers, if they have a 5/16 socket I would bring that also if not a small adjustable wrench will do.

3. After the TNG employee finishes the install of the new wires they are to dispose of all of the old wires and wipe down the PDN unit. It is the start of a new cycle and the cleaning of the unit should happen every 4 weeks or the first week of a cycle.

4. Once the assignment has been finished the TNG employee is to check the unit for the cycle 1 loaders being in the correct sequence and that all LOADERS HAVE TAGS!!!!!!

5. There is a survey for this assignment and is attached to this email. The Chain & Survey # for this project is 4360. This is very important that we have these filled out within 24 hours of install. We will be tracking the progress of the install.

There is not a photo survey with this project but a picture showing the screen playing would not hurt and can be attached to photo survey #9843.

6. We are shooting for all of the Giant stores to be finished up by the end of cycle 1, and following up with the Stop N Shop chain in cycle 2.

Communication is going to be a huge part of this project and it needs to start with the DM’s to the supervisors down to the merchandiser’s. I will be in the field also helping with this rollout and will not be able to answer every question or concern a merchandiser/supervisor has. On this project it will be a big part of the supervisor’s job to manage this from start to finish. If anyone runs into a situation that a DM or supervisor can’t answer then please have them call Jim (336-745-7482) first and Dana (779-216-0676) if they can’t reach Jim.

KROGER Causal Scanning – 1/13/15- 1/20/15 & 1/21/15 – 1/27/15 Chain # Varies / Handheld - ************************* Scanning starts after 10:00am on Wednesdays and ends Tuesdays BEFORE 10:00am In-Store Causal Scanning Basics For Kroger There are two basic rules to in-store scanning: Scan all secondary displays and scan all shippers.

FIRST CHOOSE THE LOCATION ON THE SCREEN, THEN SCAN ONE OF EACH UNIQUE UPC ON DISPLAY, continue scanning under that location until you need to change to a different location. We do not scan any primary locations. These items are further defined below.

PRIMARY LOCATION (Display) – Refers to the products found on the shelves located down the aisles of the store or the products found along the walls of the right, left and rear walls of the store. Primary locations are never scanned.

SECONDARY LOCATION (Display) – Product that can be found in a primary location and is also displayed in another location (or locations). Items found on secondary locations are to be scanned.

** ALL secondary displays, and one of each unique UPC on every display, should be scanned.

Follow the guidelines in place. Skipping a display jeopardizes the client business.** SHIPPERS – A shipper is defined as follows: Shippers are (1) free standing cardboard displays and should have the (2) manufacturer’s name or logo on them and (3) that manufacturer’s product in them. If the display has all three of these elements, or if the store has removed the header card and you can still tell that it is a shipper, then it is to be scanned. Or if it meets the requirements of a secondary location (i.e. if the product in the cardboard display is located elsewhere in the store, the items will be scanned). Hanging cardboard “wings” are not defined as shippers and would only be scanned if the secondary location rule applies.

NOTE: The mandator y store walking pattern must always be followed. Beyond the two basic rules described above there are some exceptions, which are followed when applicable. Those exceptions are detailed below.

The Optimum Way To Walk The Store OBJECTIVE: To ensure no displays are missed, a walking pattern has been developed. In order to ensure that you scan all relevant displays, it is important to implement a store walking pattern that will enable you to locate every display and, at the same time, leave you with a sense of certainty that all displays were scanned.

Your most important task in performing the scanning function is to ensure you don’t miss any displays. If you walk the store in a way that ensures the completion of that task, you will fulfill your responsibility for quality collection of display data.

If you keep the displays in front of you and tr y to scan one location code at a time, you will not miss any displays.

This simply means: MINIMIZING the possibility of having to look to the left or right for displays NEVER having to look behind you for a display NEVER having to ask yourself the question…”Did I already scan this display?”

NOTE: If you think you may have missed a display scan it again.

To accomplish your objective, we use the following guidelines to train our merchandisers:

Your first responsibility as a merchandiser is to announce your presence in the store to the store manager or the Customer Service Desk. Let the manager know what your job function is and develop a rapport between yourself and store management.

Be absolutely sure that you are carrying a pocket size notebook and a pen or pencil. When questions or problem situations arise while working a store, it is important that you write them down so you remember to address them with your supervisor.

Store Front You should start scanning at the far left-hand checkout (the point where the “Checkout” work was completed), you should move across the checkouts, heading for the right side of the store. The usual scannable displays to look for are: Shippers Wire Baskets Promo Wall/Aisle Secondary locations of products As you move toward the right side of the store, all “Secondary” displays should be scanned. Do not focus on the front endcaps at this time.

In-Aisle Walking down the far right side of the store, you should scan all Secondary Displays and Shippers on your way to the right-rear corner of the store.

A.

The far right side aisle will often include the “PRODUCE” section of the store. If so, check for shippers and cross-merchandised products which would also be found in primary locations elsewhere in the store.

B.

If side aisles are located down the far right-hand aisle, you must scan the side aisle endcaps or case stackings. Also, scan any shippers that are present by the proper location code, i.e., in-aisle or if placed at the endcap, side aisle endcap.

Store Rear Once in the right-rear corner of the store, you should proceed across the Store Rear , heading directly for the left-rear corner of the store. Disregard the rear endcaps for now. You should focus on all Secondary Displays and Shippers placed on the floor between the rear endcaps and the rear of the store.

Rear Endcaps Once at the left-rear corner of the store, you should reverse direction and scan all Rear Endcaps for items to be scanned. As you proceed across the store, all Rear Endcap displays will be in front of you, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to miss a display.

In-Aisles Once the rear endcaps have been completed, you should “snake” the aisles (walk up and down all aisles from the right to left-hand side of the store), looking for the following: Shippers Case Stackings In Shelf Displays Promotion Aisles You should ask yourself the question “Is the product or group of products found somewhere else in the store in a primary location?”

If YES, then the products in question become secondary and must be scanned.

By walking the aisles and becoming familiar with what is in the primary shelving, you will be able to determine whether products need to be scanned.

“GAINING INFORMATION” is why the aisles must always be walked!!!

Mid Aisles If you encounter mid-aisle endcaps while “snaking” the aisles, then you should scan them as soon as you reach them. Begin with one side of the mid-aisle end cap and proceed until endcaps on that side have been completed. Walk across the aisle and scan the other side of the mid-aisle endcaps back to your original starting point in the aisle. Now resume and complete your “snaking the aisle” process outlined above.

Front Endcaps The snaking process, when completed, should leave you in the front-left corner of the store. From there, you should move across the store, focusing only on the front endcaps.

Store Front/ Promo Aisle Once all the front endcaps have been scanned, you should review the store front area not previously walked (between the front endcaps and the checkouts), and check for any displays that may carry products in “secondary” locations or shippers.

Side Aisle or In- Aisle We often will find small aisle sections tucked away in the front corner of the store (approximately 15-20 feet in length). These aisles sections will most likely have endcaps that must be scanned as side aisle endcaps. Any scannable displays found in the aisles between the shelving will be defined as in-aisle displays.

The package reads 4 count but contains 2 bags. Stores have been notified of the issue and have already pulled floor stock. If you find the strip empty,. talk to the receiver and request a count of how many were pulled, for the survey. ** Merchandiser should remove & dispose the label and balance from the other side of the bracket.

Please remind your reps to check their back-stock and if found, give them to the receiver and add to their count. . **With some stores pulling product this will affect the accuracy of our count. Please do the best you can. _____________________

The recall is due to package count verses actual product count. The package reads 4 bags but contains only 2. This item is not being repackaged.

On your next Impulse service visit, the VIOVIA 4ct OVEN BAGS, are to be removed from the floor, pulled from your back-stock and given to the receiver to be scanned out as damaged goods. This item is not being replaced. Peel off the label and balance the empty strip with product from the other side.

It is important to record all bags given to the receiver. There is a survey to complete requiring the exact piece count.

Please take a moment and identify for the receiver that this is to be scanned out as damaged. Take a marker and write damage on the front of the package, not over the UPC. This assures us that it will not end up in your back-stock area.

The New Colored, OXO can-openers are arriving at the stores. These strips are currently filled with Kitchen Aid can-openers (upc-024131285631) that need to be pulled and balanced on to other Kitchen Aid openers. Use your store map to identify these locations.

The new openers will be set in two locations, Soup and Canned Vegetable sections.

The following steps need to be taken to place each color in their new location: 1. Pull the existing product from the identified bracket.

2. Gently remove all labels matching the product and save if item is to be relocated.

3. Fill the strip with the new openers, alternating colors.

4. Gently place the new label on the bracket, towards the top.

4. If the item pulled is not discontinued, use your store layout to locate additional locations, and use as replenishment.

Walmar t Chain #5390: Returns: •

Please ensure you are not returning any books before their On sale date.

Premature Returns hurt sales and upset Authors. T This is another area where the WM team is becoming less tolerant. Every week, the field is prematurely returning new releases and current POG’d and promo titles. This issue is at an all time high and a record breaking (and not in a good

way) return of $306,000 hit RDS last week- The highest return amount dollars for RDS WM books. RDS is going to continue to focus on returns and premature returns every week and we have to do a better job on our end. Reps must visit FLTPS every week prior to service and make sure they have the current POGs and WM info. If a rep is setting to strict POG, then premature returns should not happen. If a rep opens a box and it’s a best seller not on the current list, save it in the backroom and mark the box as it is best sellers that hit early through the WM DC. Please note that Crayons are not a returnable item “unless they are damaged” RDS has a special deal and partnership with Crayola and these returns are jeopardizing this partnership. Damaged crayons are the only acceptable return.

Harlequin Romance Books - Please note that the Harlequin books do not come in the typical blue stripped RDS boxes but in the Harlequin boxes with the 4 red diamonds on it. Series makes up a considerable part of a department's sales. Series readers tend to be some of our most regular and loyal shoppers. It is critical to the success of our departments that all new releases including series be available for purchase on street date, unless the product is late arriving to the store.

Cklanes- please continue to focus on replenishing coloring books at the CkLanes. These are great for RDS as a customer impulse purchase. If you do not have the called for coloring title, place any coloring books or play packs to keep the pocket full at each visit.
