STRATEGIC DIRECTION 2023-2028

CURIOUS COMPASSIONATE CONNECTED

1

The Strategic Plan 2023 – 2028 represents the culmination of more than a year of surveys, focus groups, and the collaborative efforts of many people united by a strong desire to see Lauremont grow, flourish and take its place as one of the leading independent schools in Canada.

Lauremont School continues to offer an outstanding education to our students. We have expanded our programs and facilities, appointed new staff in critical areas relating to student and staff welfare and well-being and enhanced our focus on ensuring that every member of our community feels a sense of belonging within our unique community.

Our new Strategic Plan signals a strong commitment and intent to celebrate our successes, implement tangible and measurable improvements in areas where, and take decisions which align closely with the strategic vision outlined in these pages.

In a world facing many challenges, our strategic vision reflects the fundamental goal of enabling our graduates to be fully equipped not only to manage the world they will inherit but to thrive in it and make meaningful differences to the lives of those around them. In order for this vision to be realized, we embrace our responsibility to be good stewards of our human, monetary and physical resources and to use these for the betterment of our school.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Leadership Team, we present this Strategic Plan and invite you to join with us as we build a strong, sustainable and secure future for our community.

THE LAUREMONT PROMISE

Our community is:

Curious

We ask questions aimed at better understanding our world and we use our knowledge to contribute meaningfully to society.

Compassionate

We treat others with kindness, patience and care. We actively seek tangible opportunities to support each other, and to promote the well-being of individuals both locally and globally.

Connected

We forge strong connections with members of our community, our natural environment, and information and knowledge that expand all of our horizons.

“The climate and culture is exactly how it should be. Each child feels accepted and included for who they are. They grow and thrive in a healthy school environment.”

THE LAUREMONT STORY

Each one of us is a story-teller: our story does not belong to any individual but is written and continually expanded by every member of our school. Help us to write the next chapter of Lauremont!

From a small Montessori school in a church basement to a school population of close to 900 students and 185 faculty and staff spread across two campuses

A learning environment where the addition of the IB programme from Grades 7-12 provides a unique Montessori/IB framework preparing our students for a life of purpose and service to others

10

A place where everyone is a learner and where everyone recognizes that our differences enrich us, and our common values make us stronger

An institution that has grown and evolved with the times but which seeks to remain connected to the vision of its Founder

A place where everyone can say I Am Known because their story carries significance to those around them, and where each individual feels a sense of belonging and connection

“When I walk through the doors I feel ready to advocate for and teach my students. I find joy and fulfillment from my position here.”

THE LAUREMONT DIFFERENCE

14

We are proud to offer a strong academic and cocurricular program within a caring community of learners. Excellence in teaching and learning is at the core of all we do, and our one truly distinguishing feature can be found in the outstanding pedagogy we provide to our students.

The Lauremont Difference is grounded in two global curricula that together extend, enrich and energize all of our learning experiences. The synergy we achieve through our Montessori (Toddler to Grade 6) and International Baccalaureate (Grades 7 to 12) frameworks—is truly distinctive to Lauremont School. Their shared emphasis on inquiry, collaborative learning and service combine to create a powerful and lasting foundation for future studies and achievements.

15
“I feel happy and excited when I walk through the doors. I look forward to what the day brings.”

OUR STRATEGIC GOALS

To promote a mindset of innovation and a commitment to service in our approach to teaching and learning, that is anchored within our school environment but is most impactful as learners contribute to and become drivers of positive social change.

To be a truly diverse, equitable and inclusive community which commits itself to preserving and enhancing the well-being of all.

To deepen our commitment to engage in sustainable practices both individually and as a school for the benefit of present and future generations.

“I feel welcome and valued. Positive about my place of work, the role I play making a difference in people’s lives, and the impact of the built environment on my state of mind.”
