Tioga United Way to Host Celebrity Adventure Auction Tioga United Way is hosting their 5th Annual Adult Spelling Bee along with their Celebrity Adventure Auction in order to raise money and awareness for the 31 agencies that depend, in part, on the Tioga United Way to fund their services and programs. This year, the online auction Celebrity Adventures include: • Animal Adventure Park lunch for two with Jordan Patch on the giraffe deck. Jordan will take you on a tour of the giraffe barns • Dinner and drinks for 10 at the Belva Lockwood Inn, with dinner prepared by their private chef • A spa package including an hour massage with a shiatsu sinus facial from Handprints Massage and Wellness, a manicure and mini pedicure from Stilettos Hair & Nails, dress from Lily Style Loft, and a cocktail and dinner at MJ’s Bar & Restaurant • A two-hour full house cleaning from Merry Maids • Josh Thole will take a group of 4 to tour Cooperstown Hall of Fame with him. Ride with Josh, tour the hall of fame, enjoy lunch • Four tickets to a New York Yankees 2020 season game and a hotel stay in
New York City • Two VIP tickets to meet Larry Thomas, Soup Nazi from Seinfeld, August 25 at the Binghamton Rumble Ponies game, Rumble Ponies vs Fisher Cats. Plus, two Rumble Ponies T-shirts. • Two tickets to one 2020 Summer Concert Series show at Tioga Downs along with an overnight in the hotel and breakfast in the morning • Two seats at the table of Dancing United with the Starz ’20 scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Tioga Downs Resort & Casino Online bidding begins March 9 at tiogaunitedway.com and ends March 20. But live bidding will then begin again at the Spelling Bee, Saturday, March 21, at 7:00 pm at the Owego Elks and winners will be announced at 9:00 pm that evening. If you’re not on a Bee team but would like to attend, there’s a $5 cover charge and your name gets entered into a drawing for gift give-aways. The Bee is sponsored by Lockheed Martin and there’s still time to register your team. Foundation Announces over $74,800 In Scholarships Available The Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) administers 33 scholarship funds. In 2019, more than $77,000 in scholarships was awarded to 38 students. Scholarships are available to high school seniors with plans to continue their post-secondary education by attending a four-year college or university, community college, or two-year trade or technical school. Applicants for all scholarships demonstrate individual excellence in areas such as community service, leadership, sports, music, academics and other unique characteristics. Each year, educational scholarships impact the community by providing financial support to students to pursue careers. “College tuition rates are on the rise
