From now on, students of Commerce Entrepreneurship and Organisations (CEO) and Commercial Business Management (CMB) will receive an additional knowledge certificate along with their diploma, since these study programmes are officially SMA accredited!
Top-quality study programmes The Sales Management Association (SMA), the association of sales professionals, accredits study programmes that have Commerce as their primary subject. Eiso Bleeker, director of SMA: “Accrediting a study programme offers a form of quality assurance during which the programme is assessed in comparison with predetermined standards.” If an SMA certificate is given out, that means the study programme meets the quality requirements.
Who will receive what certificate? In practice, this accreditation means that students of CEO and CBM will receive the following knowledge certificate along with their diploma from now on: • CEO: SMA-B1 Senior Sales Professional • CBM: SMA-A Sales Practitioner
Committee impressed The assessment committee was impressed by Tio's educational system, which is based around development and evaluation. Tio passed the assessment process with flying colours and the committee unanimously decided to award the accreditation to the CEO and CBM programmes. Eiso Bleeker: “You should be very proud; everything is well taken care of!” SMA's representatives were also very positive about the involvement of the professional field via Tio's alumni policy and the professional field advisory committee. According to the committee, both study programmes offer a clear learning pathway in the field of sales with ample focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. •

Tio alumna Maureen works as manager events at Triple Double

By: Hilde Gilissen, Reporter
UEFA, Philips, TeamNL, Vuelta 2020, KLM... These are just a few of the brands and businesses for which Maureen Dasselaar and her team organise the most amazing (inter)national events. The ambitious Tio alumna works for the leading sports marketing agency Triple Double. Maureen: "We help businesses and brands benefit from the power of sports.”
Bringing brands and fans together “Triple Double is a sports marketing agency in Eindhoven that develops marketing concepts for the business and sports sectors,” says organisational talent and sports enthusiast Maureen. With great passion, Triple Double gives sports social significance and brings brands and fans together. “We help businesses realise their communication and commercial targets by doing something with sports. Our goal is to develop an all-in approach that includes everything from strategy to execution.” Where sports, marketing and events come together “At Triple Double, we combine a wide range of disciplines in order to satisfy our clients’ every need. These include marketing, design and events,” Maureen explains. As manager events, she operates on the cutting edge between marketing and events. “I supervise the events team, which consists of several event and project managers, among other people. For all our events, we also collaborate closely with designers and other creative individuals to achieve the best possible results. We organise 100 to 120 events per year, which is quite a lot.” From Kuwait to Brazil “We are involved in the entire process: from the initial creative idea to the final execution of the event itself. It is so much fun,” Maureen continues excitedly. “I get to work for a wide range of brands, come into contact with all kinds of sports and visit unique locations. That diversity is what makes my job so much fun. I also love the international aspect: I get to travel the world from Kuwait to Brazil.” Winner of the Golden Giraffe Triple Double's marketing concepts regularly win awards. The Dutch Open Curling Championships on Natural Ice 2018, an event that Triple Double developed and organised, even won a prestigious Golden Giraffe Event Award in the PR & Media Value category. Maureen: “Curling is a relatively unknown sport. With this PR event, we wanted to put it on the map in the Netherlands. The media value turned out to be enormous. It was truly amazing to win that award!” Best event programme Maureen studied Hotel and Event Management: at Tio. “I have always had good organisational skills. I wanted to do something with events and sports,” she explains. “Still, I deliberately stayed away from sports programmes; I wanted the best event programme I could find. Even back then, Tio's reputation was excellent. I really enjoyed the small-scale nature and personal guidance, as were the lecturers with their practical experience. The study gave me an excellent foundation. Tio ensures you are well prepared for your future career.” Jury member during the Event Week During her own years at Tio, Maureen only had one goal in mind: to one day work for Triple Double. That dream has come true for her. How amazing is it that she got to encourage the latest generation of Tio students to chase their dreams during the Event Week?! Maureen was a member of the jury during the Event Week. “The level of quality was quite high,” she reflects. "The students were very creative, especially with regard to digital solutions. I was impressed!” • Tip: Triple Double is still looking for interns for the coming summer! “I deliberately stayed away from sports programmes; I wanted the best event programme I could find.”
A packed room during festive graduation ceremony
By: Jolanda Bouman, Campus journalist Tio Rotterdam
On 21 February, thirty students came to Tio Rotterdam to receive their diplomas and the congratulations that go with it. The eighteen higher-education and twelve vocational-education students are clearly thrilled to be here. They reaped the rewards of all their hard work and are about to embark on their own career paths. “Get a job, choose a follow-up study programme, see the world; whatever you want to do, always follow your heart and don't let anyone tell you you cannot achieve your dreams,” says the proud campus manager Jan-Willem ten Broek during his congratulatory speech.
Top students The room is packed with graduates, their friends and families. Tess Smeman turns out to be the top highereducation student with an average grade of 7.83. She is stunned when she is called onto the stage. Tess: “I honestly had no idea!” Dominique Poth finished her vocational-education studies cum laude with an average grade of 8.4. An excellent result! “That doesn't happen a lot,” says study coach Nathalie. “It's very impressive.” Both students are celebrated and given a large bottle of champagne in honour of their achievements.
Thrown hats and broken glass The graduates - dressed in ceremonial robes - line up for the traditional tassel ceremony and the throwing of the hats. Friends and family are standing by with their cameras and smartphones. After the official photo shoot, it is time to throw the hats. Everyone is trying to find the perfect angle to capture this unique moment. The sound

of broken glass can be heard as the hats soar through the air, but it doesn't spoil the moment.

Ceremony and drinks Then it is time for the official ceremony and the signing of the diplomas. The graduation coaches have written personal speeches for all students, they share fun anecdotes and pile compliments and congratulations onto their students. Time to celebrate with some drinks and snacks! Everyone is feeling happy and having fun. Friends and family members are proud of their loved ones and enjoyed hearing all the personal stories. Of course, this unique day wouldn't be complete without a fun dinner party. •
