For me nothing is more rewarding than seeing a smile on the face of a child reading our books, or seeing children inspired by our work. I'm happy to say we have witnessed many of these moments over the last year. It's been a busy time for Tiny Owl, but we have been rewarded in many ways, including being nominated as regional finalist for The Bookseller's 'Small Press of the Year' Award. Our new Autumn list includes Fair Shares by the amazing Pippa Goodhart and Anna Doherty. The Secret of the Tattered Shoes is a special collaboration between Jackie Morris and Ehsan Abdollahi who met at Edinburgh International Book Fair last year. Under the Great Plum Tree is illustrated by Iranian artist Reza Dalvand. Sufiya Ahmed was inspired to write the book after listening to her mother’s tales about kind-hearted monkeys and silly old crocodiles in the Indian jungle.

Ehsan abdollahi Ehsan Abdollahi is an illustrator and animator, and teaches at Tehran Art University in Iran. Ehsan uses his own handmade and hand-coloured paper in his collages. Jackie Morris met Ehsan Abdollahi at Edinburgh International Book Festival and fell in love with his work. Jackie wrote the text with Ehsan in mind. Sufiya ahmed Sufiya Ahmed was born in India and arrived in the UK as a baby. She lived in Bolton, Lancashire, before moving to London where she still lives. Sufiya has worked in advertising and in the House of Commons, but is now a full-time author. In 2010 Sufiya set up the BIBI Foundation, a non-profit organisation, to arrange visits to the Houses of Parliament for underprivileged school children. She wrote this book about a kind-hearted bandari and a silly old magarmach after listening to her mother’s tales about the Indian jungle.

reza dalvand Reza Dalvand was born in 1989 in Iran. As a child, he had only one idea in mind: to draw. After studying graphic design at the Isfahan University of Fine Arts, he obtained a master’s degree in illustration at the University of Tehran. An illustrator and author of children’s books, he has published several children’s books in Farsi, French, German and Japanese in Asia and Europe.

Catell Ronca
Ken Wilson-Max was born and raised in Zimbabwe. He has illustrated and worked on more than 60 books, including the ‘Lenny’ series. Ken frequently works with children in schools, libraries and centres and also publishes a newspaper for children called Chicken!
Born in Basel, Switzerland, Catell now lives and works in Lucerne. A graduate from the Royal College of Art in London, Catell’s work is regularly recognized in Illustration Annuals. Some of her favourite things are the Swiss Alps, hand-painted folk art and making ceramic tiles and objects.
