AIR UNIVERSITY ASSOCIATE TO BACCALAUREATE COOPERTIVE PROGRAM

The Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative Program (AU-ABC) links Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) Associate of Applied Science (AAS) graduates to online accredited civilian academic institutions that off er baccalaureate level educational opportunities to Air Force enlisted personnel. The AU-ABC program off ers baccalaureate degree opportunities to CCAF graduates that maximize military credit application. AU-ABC information can be accessed via the Air Force Portal/ Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) by clicking on the Education Programs tab. There are three diff erent categories (CAT) of AU-ABC programs. The AU-ABC CAT I program is designed for Airmen with a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) associate in applied science (AAS) degree. These CCAF graduates are guaranteed that no more than 60 semester hours of additional credit will be required to complete a baccalaureate degree. The AU-ABC CAT II program is designed primarily for Airmen who are currently enrolled in a CCAF AAS degree program. Partnering institutions will identify prerequisite coursework (no more than three courses/nine semester hours) the CCAF student needs to complete as part of their CCAF General Education and Program Elective requirements. These courses would simultaneously fulfi ll both the CCAF AAS and AU-ABC degree requirements. Upon completion of his/her CCAF degree, the student would be guaranteed that no more than 60 semester hours of additional credit will be required to complete an AU-ABC baccalaureate degree; provided the student completed the specifi c prerequisite coursework. Finally, the AU-ABC CAT III program requires CCAF AAS graduates to complete more than 60 semester hours of credit beyond the AAS, but meet all other AU-ABC specifi cations. Airmen must be currently serving in the active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves or Air National Guard to participate in an AU-ABC program. Degree requirements may be completed after a student retires or separates from the Air Force. The Education Services Center, located in bldg. 201SE, is your fi rst contact for any AU-ABC question or for additional information.

CAREER PATH DECIDE TOOL

The Department of Defense off ers a career pathway and education advisement tool called Career Path DECIDE (https:// www.careerpathdecide.org). Career Path DECIDE will allow Service members interested in using Voluntary Education programs such as fi nancial support for certifi cations, licensures, and apprenticeships, as well as post-secondary education Tuition Assistance benefi ts, to access a tool designed to guide them toward high-growth careers for which they

are most qualified and educational opportunities that will close knowledge, skill, and ability gaps for a selected career pathway. The intent of Career Path DECIDE’s design is to empower Service members by ensuring they have the information needed, within the context of their future civilian career goals, to make the optimal use of their time and resources to reap the highest return on their investment. Uniquely, Career Path DECIDE presents data using a Career Pathway framework that recommends clusters of occupations to Service members based on their existing education, as well as military and civilian work experience and then enables them to explore how they might start and progress within a career pathway over time. The tool has been designed to support personal searches by individual Service members.
