Par Exsalonce Focuses on Its Customers’ Needs biz spotlight

John Parr and his wife Donna, owners of Parr’s full-service salon and day spa Par Exsalonce, have operated successful salons in Kansas and Scottsdale. No matter where their business is located, however, one thing has remained constant: Stellar customer service. “When a new customer calls for an appointment, we don’t just put them with the next hairdresser who is available,” Parr said. “We will talk to them first, and find out what kind of hair they have—for example, if it’s long, short or curly or if they are looking for color—and then we put them with the hairdresser who is best suited for their needs.” Par Exsalonce served clients in Kansas as well as the 92nd Street and Shea Boulevard area of Scottsdale, before settling in DC Ranch in 2006. on the town

Parr said the 5,500-square-foot salon and day spa offers a complete hair department with 24 hair stations offering “every hair service imaginable,” including haircuts, color, extensions and perms. “There is nothing that you can do with hair that we don’t do,” he said. Besides hair, Par Exsalonce offers manicures and pedicures, facials, body treatments, waxing, massage and eyelash extensions. “Eyelash extensions are one thing that has really turned into a lot of business during the last year. Both those and hair extensions are very popular right now,” Parr said. Roughly 20 of his current clients are men, according to Parr. The company boasts several long-term employees. “Our spa director has been with us for

26 years, and some of our other employees have been with us for 10 to 15 years, which is definitely unusual in this business,” Parr said. If a customer is ever dissatisfied with his or her experience at Par Exsalonce, Parr said Donna will go that extra mile to make things right. “She will not stop until they are happy, and knowing that we stand behind our work is a big thing with our clients,” he said. Parr said he and his wife truly love
owning their own salon and day spa. “Donna just loves the business and she likes every phase of it. She still works as a hairdresser here—it’s who she is and what she does,” Parr said. “As for me, I like dealing with people and making them happy, and making them feel good about how they look.” Par Exsalonce is located at 20707 N.
