Filling a Void

July event gives teens the ‘prom experience’ By Jadyn Fisher A mid the chaos of the past couple months, with the fi nal weeks of school, graduations and proms having to be canceled, a lot of students—especially seniors—are missing out on a big part of the high school experience.

To make the situation better, the Chandler High School student body president stepped up and, with the help of a student advisory board, they created the AZ Prom Experience, a two-day prom set for Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18, at an undisclosed location. All proceeds will be donated to students and families who have been aff ected by COVID-19.

Any Arizona student aged 16 to 18 is invited to the event, as well as seniors who are 19 and attended the 2019-20 school year. Early bird tickets start at $70 and include a $20 food credit. Th e event, sponsored by Nick’s Menswear, features Satyr, a local DJ company.

“Th e event is sure to excite every student who saw their proms slip away this year,” says Austin Morrow, student advisory board president.

“Th is is prom meets house party meets live music. We’ll kick things off with a pre-prom tailgate fi lled with local vendors from all across the state making sure you have the most amazing food for an amazing night.”

For the main event, Morrow says, “We’ll have multiple stages occupied by local artists and national talents alike bringing you amazing live music. Th e stages will also include incredible DJs making sure everyone will be dancing all night long.”

Th e night will end with fi reworks.

“We wanted to make sure no student missed out on their chance to create memories that last a lifetime,” Morrow says. “We saw an opportunity to give back to so many people across this great state by creating an event that is sure to generate the most incredible memories for students to create. Prom is such an important chapter in all of our lives, and we want to make sure we get to have that.”

Th is event really shows the spirit of giving back during this stressful time and is sure to be a big hit among students statewide. For more information about Th e AZ Prom experience, visit azpromexperience. com or follow its Instagram @azpromexperience.
