Sips-n-Snow
Two sisters open food truck in shadow of tragedy By Christina Fuoco-Karasinski J eremie and Heidi Higgins dreamed of owning a food truck and making people happy with their treats.
When he died nearly two years ago at 35, Higgins decided to open one in his honor. Sips-n-Snow is a collaboration between the Fireside at Norterra resident and her sister, Hannah Fallon.
“We came up with the idea in January, and our rst day was May 16,” Higgins says. “I was actually widowed a year and half ago, while I was ve months pregnant. I quit everything in June 2019 and relocated from Utah.”
Higgins and Fallon moved in together and combined two of their loves— avored soda and Hawaiian shaved ice. ey paid cash for their truck.
“In Utah, avored soda is a really big thing,” Higgins says. “We have 20-plus avors, a wide variety. e popular ones are mango, strawberry, raspberry and lime. Kids love blue raspberry in sprite.”
Recently, the sisters o ered Sips-n-Snow treats for free to Fireside at Norterra residents to work out bugs and get to know their neighbors.

Higgins and Fallon will travel between the North Valley and Goodyear, where their brother, Dallas Paul, lives. ey’re hoping to bring Sips-n-Snow to birthday parties and businesses.

“We’re going to post on social media where we’re going to be for that day,” Higgins says. “We’re going to di erent businesses right now, nding out who’s supportive of our trailer being parked on their property.”
Kids are important to Higgins. She formerly worked for a youth facility in Utah, and Jeremie was a journeyman lineman for the city of St. George, Utah, before dying from a heart attack. e couple worked opposite schedules, so their two boys didn’t have to go to day care. A warehouse employee, Fallon just graduated high school and relocated from Washington state. Higgins has since given birth to a third boy.
“Our hopes are to take this one step at a time,” Higgins says. “We want to spread the name and get the word out there. Ultimately, our goal is to be successful.
“We always want to support the community, who has been super supportive. We don’t know anybody. Hannah and I are both pretty new, and we’re starting from scratch.”
