When we began our conversation about homes, Realtors and decorators told us it’s all about condos these days. It could be because we are downsizing. (Thank you, Marie Kondo.) Or, perhaps we just want more personal time and less housecleaning and yard work. I have reached the age where many of my friends are, like me, empty nesters who no longer need three- and four-bedroom homes. Luxury Realtor Liz Heinkel of Coastal Christies said her buyers want condominiums for their views, easy upkeep and walkability. “Condos have the ability to ‘lock and go’ for families on the go,” she said. “Less upkeep gives us more time to appreciate the amenities of Tampa and St. Petersburg.” She and her husband, Larry, lived at Parkshore on Beach Drive in St. Petersburg for two years before moving to a condo near the beach. “When we were downtown, we decided to

try to live with one car to see if we could do it,” Heinkel said. “It was never an issue. We both worked and lived our lives downtown.” I often dream about knocking down my own waterfront home and replacing it with a small cottage and a giant yard for my dogs. Needless to say, my husband is not on board with that plan. Maybe I will persuade him to move to a condo after he sees the beautiful photos on our fashion pages this month, with a backdrop of the city from each room. Our featured fashions are meant to inspire more time in our homes, from relaxing on the sofa to cooking in our kitchens and entertaining by the pool.
