BRUSHING UP ON DENTAL HYGEINE

ALFRED RICO, general manager Dental Planet shares some quick dental tips to keep your teeth and gums healthy!

Brushing

> Brush with a soft toothbrush for two minutes, twice a day (once in the morning and once at night).

> It is better to wait at 30 minutes after a meal

> Use toothpaste with fluoride in it

> Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the teeth

> For the front of the teeth and the back of the teeth, use small circular motions to brush and also sweep the toothbrush from the gum to the end of the tooth

> Make sure to clean around the gums area

> Use a back and forth scrubbing motion for the biting surfaces of the teeth

> Spit the toothpaste after brushing rather than rinsing

Cleaning Between The Teeth

> Use floss or small brushes between the teeth at least once a day

> When flossing, wind the two ends of the floss around two fingers and bring it all the way down to the gum line

> Form a C-shape with the floss around the tooth (like you’re hugging the tooth with the floss)

> Scrape the floss upwards away from the gums

> Make sure to move along to clean areas of floss as you move along the mouth

> If you’re using small brushes to clean between the teeth, then make sure to pick the brush size that feels tight between the teeth
