The Douglas County Chamber is pleased to announce its new women’s event, Who Runs the World: A Women’s Leadership Conference. The conference is part of the Chamber’s Professional Development Series for 2018 powered by GreyStone Power Corporation. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 21st, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Centre at Arbor Connection. The half-day conference will highlight the ability of all women to create positive change in their communities and in their own lives - both professionally and personally - while recognizing the extraordinary power that exists when women come together to support one another. The conference will feature two professional motivational speakers, Stefanie Diaz and Kristy Dickerson. Tickets start as low as $59. Admission price includes professional keynote speakers, breakout sessions, a light breakfast, lunch, shopping at “chick” exhibits, games, prizes, and a keepsake journal. Apply to be Teacher 4 A Day on March 27th The Douglas County Chamber, Douglas County School System, and Brighten Academy invite business leaders, parents and community leaders to spend a day in the life of a Douglas County teacher at this year’s Teacher 4 A Day. Guest teachers will spend half a day shadowing a teacher and celebrating the tremendous work educators do every day to make an impact on Douglas County students. County Schools. Heritage Bag - Novolex opens New Facility in Douglas County

Heritage Bag plant manager, Jeff Classen, staff, and Chamber representatives celebrated their new facility by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on January 25th. Heritage Bag is located at 8096 East Highway 78 in Villa Rica. Heritage Bag is a division of Novolex, a product packaging company.

Georgia Blue Foot & Ankle Celebrates Grand Opening Georgia Blue Foot & Ankle owner, Dr. Danielle Green-Watson, staff, family, friends and Chamber Representatives gathered to celebrate the grand opening of their new location by holding a DC Chamber Ribbon Cutting on February 8th. Georgia Blue Foot & Ankle is located at 3387 Highway 5 in Douglasville. They offer podiatric services specializing in Pediatrics, trauma, sports medicine and diabetic limb salvage.

The Douglas County Chamber is now accepting applications for the 20182019 Class of Leadership Douglas. The mission of Leadership Douglas is to identify, encourage and develop leadership abilities so that its participants grow both personally and professionally. Participants in Leadership Douglas benefit from getting to know one another and from the exchange of ideas and experiences. They gain knowledge and understanding on crucial issues facing our community, while also attaining leadership skills. They also develop a network of relationships with other leaders of various backgrounds throughout Douglas County. This professional leadership curriculum is achieved through a ten-month program of structured activity where students become familiar with all aspects of our community. Leadership Douglas utilizes professional leadership trainers while also utilizing community resources for courses such as Health and Recreation, Economic Development, Arts and History, Public Safety, Social Services, Education, Government Affairs, and Water Resources. 2018 Seniors: Apply for the Foundation Leadership Scholarship The Douglas County Chamber Foundation is proud to offer multiple scholarship opportunities to high school students from Douglas County schools. These scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors exemplifying outstanding leadership qualities. The first place scholarship is $1,000 and the second place scholarship is $500 with the Board Scholarship awarding $500. Gold's Gym 32nd Annual Charity Tournament Makes Biggest Contribution Yet

The Gold’s Gym 32nd Annual Charity Tennis Tournament made its biggest impact ever on the Douglas county community this year. Over the years, the tournament has raised over $200,000 for local charities, but this year was especially impactful, with the event raising $9,000 to donate to local charities.

DeNyseCompanies Selected to Create New Cobb Galleria Sign Congratulations DeNyse Comapnies! The Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority, which owns and operates the Cobb Galleria Centre, has approved a new, 100-foot tall marquee sign to stand outside the facility. DeNyse was the lowest bidder for the project. They also created the Atlanta Braves signage for Suntrust Park in 2017.

March Member Spotlight DOUGLASVILLE SCHOOL OF DANCE Established in 1975, Douglasville School of Dance (DSD) takes pride in offering a quality dance program in a loving and nuturing atmosphere. Little did owner and director, Sheryl Clay, know how much DSD would grow over the next 43 years. Douglasville School of Dance is located at 3504 West Stewart Mill Road in Douglasville, about a half mile from the Chick-fil-A! DSD offers classes to students ages 2.5 years old to high school seniors. The staff teaches classes in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary and pointe. They also have performing group opportunities for middle and high school students. Clay and the DSD staff belive the most unique aspect that sets their studio apart from others is being able to teach dance for 43 years. They not only teach dance, but they view DSD as a ministry to share God's love!
