BWR: Your new technological project in the brick and tile segment will become operational in the summer of 2017, bringing production capacity to 60 million bricks a year. Could you give us some details about the project? B. KIRREH: It is a highly ambitious project that required an investment of around $27 million. It consists of a turnkey plant supplied by Capaccioli, which we subsequently plan to use to produce roof tiles and floor tiles. The line is fully automated and equipped with the latest technologies, including dry clay preparation. The production process will include a 140 x 7 metre kiln. Depending on market demand, we will produce 240x115x75 mm standard bricks with chamfer with a fired weight of 2.7 kg and 400x200x200 mm loadbearing perforated bricks with a weight of 14 kg. We use locally sourced excellent quality clay. BWR: Will your entire output be sold on the local market? B. KIRREH: Although our output is almost entirely sold on the domestic market, we are also planning to begin an export activity to neighbouring countries including Syria,Turkey and Iran. This will protect us in the event of a fall in demand in the domestic market. BWR: Why did you choose Italian technology? B. KIRREH: After carefully assessing the various suppliers, we judged Italian brick technology to be the most reliable and at the forefront of the sector. We believe that the efficiency, innovation, energy saving processes and high degree of automation guarantee the quality levels and increase in production capacity we were looking for. L’argilla utilizzata è di ottima qualità e viene estratta dal territorio circostante. BWR: Sarà tutto destinato al mercato locale? B. KIRREH: Direi che la produzione sarà quasi tutta assorbita dal mercato domestico, ma stiamo pensando di affacciarci anche a paesi limitrofi come Turchia e Iran. Aprirci la strada all’export ci consente di metterci al riparo da eventuali cali della domanda interna. BWR: Nella scelta del partner avete privilegiato tecnologia italiana, come mai? B. KIRREH: Dopo un attento studio tra i fornitori, abbiamo ritenuto la tecnologia italiana tra le più affidabili e all’avanguardia nel settore della produzione di laterizi.
