PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN

Civvies day at Herbert Hurd was a true reflection of our ‘rainbow nation’ last week when pupils came dressed as ‘Proud South Africans’. There were rugby players and rugby supporters, Xhosa maidens with bright beads and braided skirts and South African flags

and Vuvuzelas in abundance. Civvies days at Herbert Hurd are used as fund raising opportunities and each child pays R5.00 for the privilege of dressing up.

PALM POPPIE

Palm Poppie – speaker from Heideveld Church came to talk to our learners, they handed out a soft doll that fits into your hand, with this image they told them that you are always in God’s hand.

NATURAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY IS FUN!

Miss Amy Pretorius’s two Gr. 6 classes did FOOD PROCESSING as an assignment. Each student had to do research on different ways to process food. They also had to process the food and bring it to school for “Show and Taste.” There was a big variety of food – from fruit salad to biltong, fudge and even grilled chicken. We had lots of fun while doing the research and processing but the best part was the tasting!

SPELLING BEE CONTEST

Grade 3 Spelling bee – Tannith, Monde and Sihle were our winner of our first Spelling Bee contest.
