Lilyfontein School 8 SEPTEMBER 2014 is a race everybody should do. The lessons learnt out on the routes cannot be taught in the classroom and they are invaluable life lessons. One team, had a broken bike, they ran 8kms back to transition to fix it and then got back onto the route. How better to teach people not to give up at the first hurdle?”
Thanksgiving Assembly The senior leaders decided to give something back to the ground and admin staff that keep the school running smoothly. They organised collection of items from all the learners, packaged them and handed them out at a full school assembly.
Grade 9’s Afrikaans Mondeling
Lilyfontein teams really rose to the challenge this year and came in first in each of the SA Schools Championships qualifying categories for U13, U15 and U19. They also took second in the U13 and U15 categories. On Saturday 6, September, 82 teams took to the tracks, rivers and beaches around Cefani Mouth Resort for this year’s Lilyfontein School Adventure Race. Teams ran, cycled and completed obstacles, in various categories from Grade 1-3 all the way up to the Corporate Challenge. Lilyfontein Interact Board The Lilyfontein Interact Group, sponsored by Gonubie Rotary Club, is very active, raising funds for Canaan Care Centre for mentally and physically handicapped children, holding blood donor drives, collecting bread bag clips for Lifeline to provide wheel chairs for the needy, collecting goods for care packages for the elderly, collecting coppers for the St Bernards Hospice copper drive etc. This year’s board was announced at the recent induction dinner.
