Beaconhurst Primary/High School 8 OCTOBER 2014 Port Elizabeth Orchestra Outing
Music Academy learners had the opportunity to watch the Youth Concerto Festival in Port Elizabeth on Sunday, 21 September. The festival included various classical pieces that were performed by an orchestra and soloists from all over the region. A bus full of jolly learners left early to make it to PE in time and slept all the way home again. The trip served as a motivation to the learners so they can strive to practise and perform as the orchestra does. It went so well that the Music teachers might just take them to another show soon!
GR 11 CAMP
On the 19th of September, our grade 11s ventured off to Lekkeroord for the night. This is where they enjoyed team building experiences that brought the learners closer together and allowed the true, natural leaders to shine.
Lennart Wehking And Joachim Pfoertner On the 11 September Beaconhurst hosted two German Table Tennis Players LENNART WEHKING AND JOACHIM PFOERTNER, who came to South Africa with the goal of promoting Table Tennis in South Africa. Teams from all over Buffalo City attended the coaching clinic. They hosted two sessions and taught the junior and senior players new ways to improve their skills and have fun while doing it. They gave the players a real workout. The learners then got a chance to show off their newly found skills by playing matches against each other. We thank the German delegates for a fun filled day.
Grade 11 Job Shadowing
On 12 September 2014, the Grade 11 Life Orientation learners were given the opportunity to job shadow professionals in the field or career of their interest. Learners were also required to submit a written report on their experience in the working field and received a rating based on their punctuality, attitude and performance from the company where they job shadowed. This was a fruitful exercise for the Grade 11s as it gave them a better idea of their possible future career prospects as well as the reality of the working environment. ~ Sazi Tshangana (Grade 11).
