Using the wire directly from the spool or coil, wrap it around your mandrel leaving approx 1cm each side of where the wires cross and cut the wire from the spool. 136 tickletheimagination.com.au

If your wire is soft use a mandrel the same size as you want the rings. If your wire is harder and springy you’ll need to use a mandrel a bit smaller than you want the ring to be to get the right size.
