Wine / Vino Over the past decades Ticino's red wines have become of international caliber and during contests they appear as some of the best in the world. The most widespread vine in the Italian part of Switzerland (82%) is precisely that same Merlot that distinguishes the production of Bordeaux, and can also be made into whites with excellent results. To understand the relationship Merlot has to Ticino, we suggest an itinerary that will take you to the places where the first stumps of this variety were planted over a century ago and a visit to the “Corte del vino” which stocks 200 Ticino vintages.
Nel corso degli ultimi decenni i vini rossi ticinesi hanno raggiunto una qualità di livello internazionale e nei concorsi figurano tra i migliori al mondo. Il vitigno più diffuso nella Svizzera italiana (82%) è infatti quello stesso Merlot che caratterizza la produzione bordolese e che oggi viene vinificato anche in bianco con ottimi risultati.
