January 2014

WELCOME 2014! I already love you. I have never been so glad to see a year be gone than 2013. Brian lost both parents in 5 months and all the emotional baggage and stress that goes with long-term disease, well, once again………… WELCOME 2014! I just feel there’s going to be so many POSITIVE and GOOD things going to happen this year. It’s all there and we’re going for it. We’re taking a long vaca soon after the New Year and baby, does MaMa & PaPa Thunder truly need it and deserve it. Going to BonAire, which is located in the Netherlands and IS the ultimate scuba-diving experience destination. We’re going to dive at least twice a day, drink adult beverages… ALOT! lay around in hammocks set up on the beach next to Tiki-Bar and Calypso steel-band and have sex on the beach under the stars…ALOT! Now I ask you, how much better can it get? It can’t. Well, maybe if you threw in one of those cute monkeys like in Hangover 3. Now, he was cool. But we don’t even drink but we’re going to be the cheapest drunks ever seen and I’m already a kooky, fun-loving beach bum from way back, I can only presume that alcohol will greatly enrich my assets. (easy) And, like we learned a long time ago when we used to drink people under the table on any given Friday or Saturday night……Never drink to get happy, only drink to get happier. If you start out happy and free from burdens, then you will have a happy drinking experience. If you have “issues” not dealt with, drinking will only amplify those and make you a mean, sad-sack drunkard. Truth. But we are going to be so happy and making new diving buddies and future friends….all GOOD & POSITIVE actions. You know, this LIFE that you live, it’s ALL your deal. You call all the shots whether you realize that or not. You determine your outcome. It takes some people a very long time to realize this, but once you comprehend that the Universe & God TRULY want the very best for you and you develop a grateful and thankful existence, then you will see your life change in ways you never dreamed possible. I want to thank ALL the advertisers going into the New Year who keep this mag on the shelves and free to the bikers. Please support those who help pay for the printing. Thank you Cooper & Judy Chilton for always having our back at so many rallies and your gorgeous shoots, Coop. You two, along with SO MANY others surrounding this magazine have been such a major blessing and we look forward to the blessing of yet another year amongst friends; old and new. We love ya’ bikers. toni & brian WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO 2014! Come to MaMa.

“FIGHTERS”

to mop up, and they lose the battle they should have I am anointed to speak to fighters: some of us have been won because someone in his army “had transgressed God’s covenant.” Born fighters are also born winners, fighting since we took our first breath of air. We’ve been fighting to stay alive, fighting to keep from being winners are attractive, and winning will make an ugly person look good. Winners can wear blue jeans, black abused, fighting to get out of school, fighting to keep t-shirts, leather and look good doing it! A loser must a job, family, home, car or motorcycle. Some we win, put on airs to fake people off, make up, shirts with little some we lose, some are in a fight right now, some are alligators on the pockets. But what do you do when just coming out of a fight, if not, you’ll be in a fight winners lose? Losers don’t mind losing because they’re tomorrow! used to losing, they always have a good reason for The book of Joshua is for fighters, its God’s manual losing and they enjoy the sympathy of losing. But when for warfare, if you’re not a fighter don’t even open winners lose, it’s not about the money or the spoils of up the book Joshua. As we look at the very first chapter Joshua 1:2 “Moses my servant is dead; NOW war; it’s not even about the war wounds they receive, because winners fight hurt. It’s because they could ARISE AND GO OVER THIS JORDEN.” Moses’ lose their “Identity” of whom they really are, that’s body was not even cold yet and God turns the reigns why a born fighter will always make a come back until over to a fighter named Joshua. God’s first order to a he wins or dies trying. Remember Moses’ job was to fighter was “get up right now and go!” Born fighters bring God’s people out of Egypt, through the Red Sea never get a chance to mourn long, born fighters get and through the wilderness. To detoxify their thinking into trouble easily; it’s hard for them to make friends from being “owned” to being “owners,” from slaves to because anything that comes towards them, they are ready to fight it. Joshua 5: 13 Joshua just won a battle Sonship with God. Joshua’s job was to lead the fight for the “Promise Land.” After you have come out of when Jesus appeared to him, Joshua was so caught your Egypt, gone through your Red Sea, and wandered up in the battle that he pulled a sword on Jesus, “are through your wilderness, you will always have to fight you with me or against me?” Joshua had just won his for your “Promise Land” that God has promised you. first battle that he should have lost, keeping in mind The devil will not stand by and just let you walk right they had been slaves for the last four hundred years, slaves were never taught how to fight but yet they beat in. Just remember what God told Joshua, He says the same thing to you: “There shall not any man be able to an experienced army. Born fighters will find a way to win, they may not look as pretty as a trained fighter but stand before the all the days of thy life: as I was with they will get the job done like15 year old David killing Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Until next time, keep your face in the the giant Goliath, a trained solider with no more than wind and your kickstand up. a “Rag and a Rock.” But now Joshua 7:1-6 Joshua is preparing for his second battle, but this time he has To be found faithful, the enemy outnumbered and just sends a few soldiers Pastor Ron 8

K.I.S.S. page composed & edited by: Toni McCoy Shearon aka “MaMa Thunder” of Thunder Roads Tennessee i have chosen this name for our monthly recipe page, as that was what my mother, rest her soul, always used to say when I would assist her in the kitchen. mom was an avid supporter of the kiss (keep it simple sweetie) method of cooking. i now, more than ever, truely appreciate her philosophy of always taking shortcuts where you can, as long as your ultimate outcome is that of down home, labor of love cooking.

K.I.S.S. page composed & edited by: Toni McCoy Shearon aka “MaMa Thunder” of Thunder Roads Tennessee

M.B.’s NEW YEAR DAGO CABBAGE SOUP 1 Large Head of Dago Cabbage 1 Lb. Mild or Hot Sausage - browned & sliced or crumbled 1 Pkg. Polish Sausage - browned & sliced 1 Lg. Can Spicy Hot V-8 Juice 1 Lg. Onion, Large Chop 3 Stalks Celery, Large Chop Salt & Pepper to Taste

In a large soup pot, chop up your head of cabbage into 4 quarters and pour your V-8 juice over top. In a skillet, brown up your sausage and your Polish sausage combined. Drain. Add to soup. Add your onion and celery and salt & pepper, turn on low, cover and just let it very slowly cook down. This is also simple to throw in a crock pot and let go all day. When all these flavors combine and cook down, the flavor is fantastic! Be sure and serve with hot, crusty bread and butter.

FESTIVE CRAB & CRANBERRY CUPS 1/2 Cup Cream Cheese, Softened 1/4 Cup Premium, Canned Crabmeat, drained, flaked & cartilage removed 2 Tbls. Chopped Green Onions (scallions) 1 Pkg. (2.1 ozs.) Frozen Miniature Phyllo Tart Shells 1/2 Cup Whole-Berry Cranberry Sauce

In a small glass bowl (anything but plastic, makes crabmeat taste funny), combine the cream cheese, crab & onions until blended. Place th tart shells on an ungreased baking sheet. Drop 1 Tbl. of crab mixture into each shell. Top each with 1 tsp. cranberry sauce. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 min. until heated through. These two flavors blended together is yummy!

PEACH-BOURBON HOLIDAY HAM 1/2 Cup Bourbon, Divided 1-1/4 Cups Packed, Light Brown Sugar, Divided 1 Semiboneless Ham Shank, Half-Smoked Ham (8 lbs.) 2 Tbls. Whole Cloves 1 Pkg. Freestone Peaches, Thawed & Divided

Preheat oven to 325. Combine 1/4 cup bourbon and 1/2 cup sugar. Score ham; insert cloves. Place sut side down on rack in roasting pan. Bake 1-1/2 hrs, basting with mixture. In blender, puree 1/2 cup peaches, remaining bourbon and remaining sugar. Bake 25 min. Remove. In greased skillet, saute blended ingredients along with 1/4 cup water. Serve with ham as a dipping sauce. Make extra and drizzle allover ham also.

SIMPLY DELICIOUS CREAMED ONIONS 6 Large Onions, Sliced 1 Cup of Real Butter 2 Tbls. All-Purpose Flour 2 tsps. Salt 1/2 tsp. white pepper 2 Cups Whole Milk (do not use skim or 2%) *Alot of cooks use 1/2 & 1/2 when doing a “creamed” side dish.

In a large skillet, saute onions in butter until tender and golden brown, about 25 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon. Add flour, salt and pepper to sskillet; stir until smooth. Gradually stir in milk until blended. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat to medium. Return onions to the pan; heat thuroughly. Creamed onions have the sweetest taste and the perfect texture to compliment any meat dish.

NO-BAKE, NO FUSS, CHEESECAKE PIE 2 Tbls. Graham Cracker Crumbs, Divided 1 Pkg. (.3 ozs.) Lemon Gelatin 2/3 Cup Boiling Water 1 Pkg. (8 ozs.) Cream Cheese, Cubed 1 Cup Cottage Cheese 2 Cups Premium Whipped Topping HAPPY 2014 to ALL YOU FUN & LOVING BIKERS!

January 2014

Coat the bottom and sides of a 9-in. pie plate with nonstick cooking spray. Sprinkle with 1 Tbl. cracker crumbs; set aside. In a small bowl, dissolve gelatin in boiling water; cool slightly. Pour into a blender, add cream cheese and cottage cheese. Cover and process until smooth. Transfer to a large bowl (not plastic). Fold in whipped topping. Pour into prepared pie plate. Sprinkle with remaining graham cracker crumbs and garnish with small coils of lemon peel. This is a truly fresh and superbly textured, ending to a great meal.

Santa (aka Steve Welch) and Mrs. Clause (aka Stacie Ludsford) led 625 bikes in the annual Boswell’s Toy Parade. Also, all of the Boswells, including the patriarch of the family, Lannie (Gabby), participated in the run. The ladies put together a bake sale, each showcasing their best goodies, chased down by hot coffee. The police officers sold special Christmas Charities t-shirts. Excluding the shirt sales, the day brought in over $11,000 and a truckload of toys. The road blocks manned by the Boswell HOGs and their friends from other clubs, made the total raised to approximately $50,000. This amount will help fund the Police Christmas Basket Program, Shop With A Cop and the Andrew Jackson Youth Camp. The ride started at Centennial Park, proceeded down West End and ended at Boswell’s Fesslers Lane for music, food, and beverages. It’s pretty neat to run all the red lights on West End and wave at the crowds. The rain barely missed us, leaving only wet roads. Sorry, no pictures while in the

parade as my camera was hidden from the rain, in my tour pack. The Christmas Basket Program provides several food baskets, plus toys, each, for needy families, selected by officers in their sectors. The HOGs assist officers in the delivery of the baskets, on Christmas Eve morning. The HOGs will tell you that when you see the condition of the families helped, you will be moved to work even harder next year. In addition to families, some of the food is delivered to the elderly. The recipients do not receive any other help from other Christmas programs. The HOGs were treated to BBQ by the officers, at the old Tennessee State Prison, as a thank you for their efforts on behalf of the charity. The Andrew Jackson Youth Camp is staffed by police officers. Deserving boys and girls are given the opportunity to go to summer camp under this program. The kids play sports, swim, are fed well, and learn responsibility, under the watchful eyes of compassionate officers. It’s a special

day, when the SWAT Team, police helicopter, canine unit, and mounted patrol, visit the campers. The canine demonstration quickly convinced me, that I’d quickly give up when I heard the dogs arrive! On the last day of camp, the cops don their uniforms for the first time. One past camper went on to become an officer. Others greet their officer buddies when they see them near their homes, report neighbors for crimes, and in at least one case, reported their mom selling drugs. This camp has saved many kids that would have, otherwise, lived a life of crime. The Shop With A Cop Program takes the campers shopping for Christmas presents. They can spend the allowed amount on themselves, their families, or even friends. This is usually the only Christmas these kids have. Like most charities supported by bikers, these efforts help children. Ya think it could be because we never grow up ourselves? Keep it up – helping a kid is a rewarding and beautiful thing. Bullet Points Responsible Gun owneRship From G & A’s Keys to Being a Responsible Gun Owner By B. Gil Horman

“A common argument against civilian gun ownership is based on what could be called a Sheep vs. Wolves model. Basically the argument goes, there are two kinds of people who live in this country: the peace-loving, guileless and socially well-adjusted individuals who do no harm (Sheep) and the evil, heartless, twisted predators that ruthlessly maim and murder innocent people (Wolves). How do we go about sorting the safe Sheep from the dangerous Wolves? According to some, the answer is neat and simple: The Wolves have guns! This kind of bi-polar political argument is popular—and seemingly effective—because it boils a multi-faceted social issue down to just two choices; either you’re a “good guy” or a “bad guy,” a victim or the victimizer. But now is the right time for us to talk about and promote the third category of citizen, one that’s purposefully ignored. If we’re going to continue with the Sheep vs. Wolves model, then the overlooked third player is the Shepherd. The Shepherds in our society are those who consciously take a stand against the Wolves in defense of the Sheep, willingly placing themselves in danger to protect those who cannot defend themselves. They are motivated by patriotism, a sense of duty, and devotion to their family and friends. Some Shepherds choose to wear a uniform and others carry a badge. But most of them in this country are honest, hard-working people who exercise their Second Amendment right to legally carry a concealed firearm or to have personal protection and sporting firearms in their homes. In other words, their motives for owning firearms are both pure and noble. But is it enough to know in your heart that you’re a good, responsible gun owner? It’s time to do more than just feel good about ourselves. We need to be the kind of gun owners that cannot be easily impugned and who do not simply stand by and allow this political fiasco to continue unchallenged. The first step to being a responsible gun owner is to declare yourself a Shepherd.”

The Glock 19 ~ Gen 3 vs. Gen 4

What are some of the differences between the Gen 3 and Gen 4? The differences are few. The grip is a little different. The texturing is different and gives a little different feel. But mainly the grip is different because it is a little shorter and then you can add back straps to make it bigger. The medium back strap makes the grip the same size as the Gen 3. Glock has also started adding a set of beaver tail equipped back straps. A medium and large one are now in each box. Glock started including 3 magazines instead of the 2 that came with the previous generations. It’s a nice touch since most companies are now including only 1 or 2. One of the subtle changes is the magazine release. A lot of people that customize the Gen 3 put an extended magazine release on their guns, so Glock just did it for them. The release doesn’t stick out further or just bigger around, it extends towards the back so it makes the push a shorter reach for your thumb. Internally they changed a couple things. The pins that hold the ejector, return spring and disconnect got changed a little so that the back straps can be accepted. The GLOCK 19 Gen4, in 9x19, introduces revolutionary design changes to the pistol that has found worldwide acclaim with security services both private and public. Darryl Worley’s

gain this year, Darryl Worley and Bumpus Harley-Davidson have teamed up to raise money for The Darryl Worley Foundation. This foundation helps those in need in Harden and McNairy Counties in Tennessee. A major beneficiary is the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center, which allows cancer patients in this area to receive care, without long distance travel to large cities. In addition, individuals and charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Ayres Children’s Medical Center, La Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, benefit from funding from the foundation. The emphasis of this event centers on helping children. Scott Bumpus became friends with Worley, due to his child having Cystic Fibrosis. At the Murfreesboro dealership, Darryl brought Jim (Moose) Brown, Mark Nesler, and Walt Aldridge, his fellow songwriters, to sing their hits for a full-house crowd. As well as their hits, the guys sang several humorous songs that you won’t hear on the radio, such as Brown’s “I’ll Drink You Pretty, If You’ll Drink Me Single” and Aldridge’s “I Want a Girl With Big Uns (If You’re Talking About Kids”). Brown has won several Grammys, his best known is probably “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere”. Aldridge has had at least one hit in each decade for the last 30-40 years, including “No Getting Over You” and “I Loved Her First”. Nesler is best known for “Living and Living Well”. Of course, Darryl brought the house to its feet with “Have You Forgotten”. The guys put on a great show, alternating songs among the group, and often, backed up by the others. This is an intimate show, nothing like the venues where we often pay big money to see the artists as fly specks on the far away stage. The Gondolier Restaurant catered the event. Tickets started at a mere $75. The event is also big on unique auction items. This year they included a Jack Daniel’s barrel signed by the Master Distiller, Jeff Arnett, who will also give a personal sampling tour of the distillery and dinner at Miss Mary Bobo’s ( for 4 people), a Fender Squire guitar, signed by the performers , the Hitmakers and Harleys logo bar stools used by and signed by the performers, a one-of a-kind Wooden Willie G Skull Plaque signed by the entire Willie G family, including the one son, who’s not with Harley, 4- Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam VIP Pit Passes ( valued at $1,596), a full vehicle detail by Reddell Honda, H-D Leather Box, filled with donations (money donated back), special Jack Daniels Hitmakers and Harley logo bottles, signed by Angelo Luchessi (first Master Distiller), Master Distiller Jeff Arnett, and Worley, H-D Hobo Style handbag, and 5 Diamond Candles, which each contain a ring worth up to $5,000. The auction alone brought in over $17,500, for the foundation, bringing the total raised to $34,000. To participate in next year’s event, contact Angie Bumpus, at the dealership, and get on the list. The major foundation event is the Tennessee River Run, held in September. This is a fun packed event, started in 2002, by Worley, held at the Pickwick Landing State Park. For information on this event, go to facebook.com/TennesseeRiverRun#!/ or call 866-484-3877. Many Thanks to the Bumpus group for hosting the Hitmakers and Harleys fundraisers, for this good cause. Steven Tyler and David Uhl Team Up To Benefit Arts and Education! article from www.aeroforceone.com

David Uhl has recently teamed up with Steven Tyler to benefit arts and education in public schools. David created a monumental painting of Steven Tyler on a motorcycle riding through a crowd of paparazzi. This 6-foot tall original oil painting, titled “The Reckoning” is the largest effort by David Uhl to date and will be later offered to the public as limited edition fine art prints signed by both David and Steven. All of the profits from print sales will be directly funneled to the charity DonorsChoose.org to benefit art and music programs in public schools. The Reckoning We are happy to announce that David Uhl and Steven Tyler teamed up to benefit education and arts in America. David Uhl recently created a monumental painting of Steven Tyler on a motorcycle riding through a crowd of paparazzi. This impressive 6-foot tall original oil painting on canvas , titled “The Reckoning”, is the largest effort by David Uhl to date and will be later offered to the public as limited edition fine art prints signed by both David and Steven. The creative idea behind this project has its roots in Steven’s active fight for privacy rights that resulted in submitting the entitled Steven Tyler Act into the State of Hawaii legislature. This legislation was intended to give more privacy to public figures, such as government officials and celebrities on vacation, raise awareness of these intrusions and afford public figures the right to sue aggressive paparazzi for trespassing and taking unwanted photographs. All profits from fine art print sales will be donated to DonorsChoose.org, an innovative online charity connecting classroom requests from teachers in high-need communities with donors who want to help. Founded in 2000 by Charles Best, a public high school history teacher, DonorsChoose.org has grown to serve classrooms in over 50% of public schools throughout the United States. Benefiting underfunded arts and music programs in schools is a priority for David and Steven and both artists hope that their involvement will help maximize sales proceeds, attract other private donors and corporate sponsors, and give the project a momentum to continue to raise funds into the future. Sales of the fine art prints will continue through the end of the 43rd Annual Barret-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, January 19th 2014. The limited edition size of the prints will be determined at that time, and the edition will be closed shortly after. All the prints will be numbered, framed and will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. article provided by http://www.aeroforceone.com 18

by Bob “Bulldog” Ousley Dear Fellow Veterans and Patriots of Tennessee: Several months ago I wrote about looking into trading my 121,000 mile 2003 Heritage in on a new ride and how nobody wanted to give me anything for trade in because I had a bunch of miles on the bike. I expounded on how I had decided to just keep it and rebuild it. Well, I started investigating what I would need to do that and sold a crotch rocket to ease the cost. I checked with real deal mechanics and builders to see what they recommended and how much it would cost for them to do the work. I compared that to buying the parts and farming out the machine work. My research took many forms and covered books, videos, internet searches and discussions with experts. I’ve never rebuilt a motorcycle before but I have done a lot of jack leg hot rodding and repair with the cars and trucks I’ve owned and have a decent bunch of tools. I’ve never been one to wring my hands over doing something. I have enough faith in myself to jump into a project and figure my way out. My philosophy has been to buy the book, buy the tool and make it work. I started a long term investigation of what I wanted to end up with and how to get there without it costing me what a new motorcycle would cost. I finally had a plan. Well it’s the New Year and I am at the point of putting my little two-wheeled hot rod back together. I took it off the road in October, pulled the gas tank, engine and transmission. I bought an S&S 97 cubic inch Sidewinder kit, sent the heads off to Branch-O’Keefe in California and the lower case with crank to Darkhorse Crankworks in Wisconsin. All of my riding is done between 2000 and 5000 rpm. I don’t need a 7000+ rpm racer. I need a workhorse that can pull me, my gear and a passenger across the country without its tongue hanging out. If I’m doing 70

January 2014

behind a big truck on a two lane road and need to pass on a short straight I want to hit the gas and get pushed back in the saddle. Horsepower above 5000 rpm is expensive and wasted on a street rider like me. My goal is torque, reliability, low maintenance and longevity. The heads got ported, polished and flowed with bigger valves. The crank got straightened, the pin welded, better rods, Timken left side bearing, I had the Harley internal balancers removed and the engine really balanced. I went through the transmission with new bearings, seals, gaskets and replaced gears with chipped dogs or teeth. New valve train, cam plate, a cam that will maximize the head work, bigger volume oil pump, primary chain and drive belt. While I was at it I put on a pair of new rear shocks and rebuilt the front struts with gas cartridges. What I found is that there is a world of resources out there that really tell you everything you need to know to rebuild a motorcycle. If you can turn a wrench and have a basic mechanical aptitude you can do it. If you don’t have the aptitude you can still do it but you may have to add a little to your budget to cover screw ups. Education has a cost and that’s how I look at screw ups. I think I may be working on my master’s degree at this point. The good news is that you can take something you messed up to a machine shop or Harley dealer and if you don’t mind getting the “you dumb ass” look, you can get straightened out and back on track. I’m married so getting the “You dumb ass” look is fairly common and doesn’t bother me anymore. I am working with purpose and going step by step to reassemble my two wheeled prodigy. I think I know how Doctor Frankenstein felt working on his project. Will it be alive when I hit the starter for the first time or will it be a motionless corpse encouraging my wife to give me the “You Dumb Ass” look? At least I have a secret weapon. I have Conrad at TNT Performance Dyno to give me the last block of instruction prior to graduation. Keep the faith. Thank a vet for the freedoms we still enjoy and support politicians who will bring back the ones we’ve lost. Fly the flag of the people and be proud you’re an American. Hug the families of those still missing because their quest for closure has not ended. Live the good life and ride for those can’t. Bulldog

NCOM BIKER NEWSBYTES Compiled & Edited by Bill Bish, National Coalition of Motorcyclists (NCOM)

CONGRESSMAN DEMANDS ANTI-MOTORCYCLE EXPLANATION FROM CDC U.S. Representative Tim Walberg (R-MI), a member of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, has sent a letter to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) demanding answers concerning a recent CDC report that aims to discourage motorcycle use while ignoring the positive economic benefits for motorcycle riding. “As an avid and experienced motorcycle rider, I believe government should be in the business of promoting the recreational, economic and environmental benefits of responsible motorcycle riding – not discouraging it,” stated Congressman Walberg in the letter. “During difficult fiscal times, the American people would be better served by your continued efforts to address widespread societal health matters such as virus prevention, cancer and heart disease.” Rep. Walberg was prompted to action by a presentation given by the Helmet Law Review Team of the Community Preventative Services Task Force in late October 2013 which concluded that mandatory helmet laws would “produce substantial economic benefits.” Walberg is troubled by the fact that potential negative impacts on nationwide motorcycling are not addressed and questions whether the CDC should be tasked with researching and making recommendations regarding transportation safety. The Michigan Representative has also been prompted to ask CDC Director Thomas Frieden; “is it the goal or strategy of the CDC to reduce the use of motorcycles - a legal mode of transportation - by recommending and pursing a federal helmet law?” GLOBAL MOTORCYCLE INDUSTRY PROJECTED EXPANSION The Global Motorcycle Industry is projected to reach $93.67 Billion by 2017, according to Lucintel, a leading global management consulting and market research firm. Lucintel has analyzed the top five global motorcycle companies and offers its findings in a comprehensive research report in “Top Five Global Motorcycle Companies: Performance, Strategies, and Competitive Analysis.” Lucintel observes the evolving of the global motorcycle industry, competitive landscape, and corporate and marketing strategies adopted by the motorcycle companies as some of the factors to have remarkably impacted the global motorcycle industry dynamics. The market witnessed splendid growth during 2006-2011 but is likely to grow with reduced pace to reach an estimated $93.67 billion by 2017. The competitive landscape of the global motorcycle industry has had fluctuations over the last five years which affected the top five companies. Lucintel found that the market size or revenue, average operating profit, average net profit, and annual growth rate are some of the driving forces of these companies. Buyers power, degree of competition, and threats of new entrants and substitutes also affect this market. Following are the top five companies of the global motorcycle in22

dustry: Honda Motor Company Limited; Yamaha Motor Company Limited; Hero MotoCorp Limited; Bajaj Auto Limited; and Harley– Davidson Incorporation. Developing regions, such as Asia and Latin America, which perceive two-wheelers as a basic mode of transportation, are expected to remain the most promising markets for scooters, light motorcycles, and mopeds. A combination of factors such as demographic condition, economic condition, and environmental regulations is seen to have important impact on market dynamics. For a detailed table of contents and pricing information on these insightful industry reports, contact Lucintel at (972) 636-5056 or visitwww.lucintel.com. U.S. TRAFFIC DEATHS RISE FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2005 For six years through 2011, highway accidents and related fatalities declined each year. Improvements in vehicles and other safety education efforts were credited for that downward trend. But for the first time since 2005, that streak ran out, according to figures released recently by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Last year, 33,561 people were killed in highway accidents, up 3.3% from 2011. The increase was reflected across many of the categories that researchers follow, but motorcycle and pedestrian fatalities reflected the highest increases, up 7% and 6% respectively. There are currently more motorcycles in use in the U.S. than ever before, and 452,386 new on- and off-road motorcycles were sold nationwide in 2012 according to the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC), up 2.6% over 2011. In addition to the deaths, the NHTSA data showed that nearly 2.4 million people were injured in crashes last year, a 6.5% increase from 2011, although miles driven remained about the same. Despite these increases, the new numbers are still far below the accident rates of the 1970s and 1980s. NHTSA preliminary data for the first six months of 2013 show that 15,470 people have died in crashes so far this year, a decrease of 4.2% compared with the same period last year. MOTORCYCLISTS SAFER BEHIND THE WHEEL Evidence suggests that roads would be safer if more drivers rode motorcycles, as motorcyclists are safer behind the wheel of a car than non-motorcyclists, according to a leading U.K. insurer. Equity Red Star compared car drivers to car users who also have an insured motorcycle, and found the latter 23% less likely on average to make a claim on their car policy. The firm also adjusted the figures to take into account the different typical ages of car drivers and motorcyclists, and still found the riders to be 21% better behind the wheel. The results showed motorcyclists were 20% less likely to make a bodily injury claim on their car policy. The insurer examined 200 million policies between 2007 and 2012. Rob Clark, Equity Red Star’s Head of Retail Motor, said: “A motorcyclist could, behind the wheel of a car, be said to be 23% better.” Clark presented the data during a conference organized by the Motorcycle Industry Association at the Department for Transport in London to examine evidence that increasing the number of motorcyclists on the road could actually improve safety.

MOTORCYCLE THEFTS DECLINE SLIGHTLY AIM-2622-F-Ad for Tennessee.indd 1 Your motorcycle could be stolen in a New York minute, especially if you live in NYC which is the nation’s capital of motorcycle thievery (903 thefts), followed by swingin’ Las Vegas (757), the National Insurance Crime Bureau reports. Next comes San Diego (633), Indianapolis (584) and Miami (535). Overall, just like when it comes to car thefts, motorcycle thefts have been dropping. In 2012, the year in which the NICB bases its analysis, they amounted to 46,061 ripped-off bikes, down 1% from the year before. Based on National Crime Information Center (NCIC) motorcycle theft data for 2012, Honda was the motorcycle brand stolen most often, with 9,082 for the year (representing 20% of all motorcycles stolen). It was followed by Yamaha (7,517=16%), Suzuki (7,017=15%), Kawasaki (4,839=11%) and Harley-Davidson (3,755=8%), rounding out the top five makes. When it comes to states, thieves appear to prefer warm weather -- just like all motorcycle riders. California was first (6,082 thefts), followed by Florida (4,110), Texas (3,400), North Carolina (2,574) and Indiana (2,334), and more than twice as many bikes were stolen during summer months than in the winter. Unfortunately, fewer stolen motorcycles are recovered than cars. While 53.9% of stolen cars were returned to their owners, only 39% of motorcycles found their way back. The NICB says that’s because it’s easier to “chop” bikes for their parts, hide them in barns or garages, or ship them out of the country in giant containers. FEDS SET UP ROADBLOCKS TO HARVEST DNA SAMPLES Federal contractors have been setting up roadblocks in cities across the country with the purpose of collecting DNA samples from passing motorists. The multi-million dollar federal program has been disturbing drivers and alarming civil libertarians. The checkpoints consist of uniformed agents blocking a public road and flagging drivers into a testing area or a parking lot. There, the drivers are requested to submit a saliva or blood sample to the federal government. The roadblocks were part of a study orchestrated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The program costs taxpayers $7.9 million over 3 years, according to NBC News Dallas-Fort Worth. The agency confirmed that the January 2014

operation is currently being launched in 30 different 11/1/11 U.S. cities. 5:06 PM “How voluntary is it when you have a police officer in uniform flagging you down?” asked Susan Watson, executive director of the Alabama chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. “Are you going to stop? Yes, you’re going to stop.” “Although this was voluntary it was not voluntary that you stop and hear the DNA for CASH pitch,” said one Alabama resident after experiencing a checkpoint in June. Drivers are offered cash for surrendering DNA samples. The going rate is $10 for a cheek-swab and $50 for blood drawn from the vein. The goal, according to the NHTSA, is to decrease impaired-driving accidents by analyzing raw bodily fluids fresh off the street. RECREATIONAL MOTORCYCLISTS ACROSS AUSTRALIA PROTEST ANTI-BIKIE LAWS Recreational motorcyclists are protesting across Australia to show solidarity against Queensland’s tough new anti-bikie laws. Queensland organizer Gabriel Buckley told the Australian Associated Press (AAP) that the new laws, aimed at criminal “bikie” gangs, have resulted in the harassment of law-abiding motorcyclists. Rallies were planned in major capital cities, with the biggest rally in Brisbane where over a thousand independent riders rallied with patch-wearing bikers at parliament house. According to Buckley, a primary concern is that the laws reverse the onus on proof for people accused of links to prescribed criminal gangs. “Some people are being pulled over three times on their way to work,’’ he told AAP. Freedom Riders Victoria spokesman Dale Maggs said Queensland’s anti-association laws unfairly affected all motorcyclists and scooter riders, allowing police to stop and question groups of three or more riders. Harley Owners Group (HOG) member Stuart told the Leader newspaper that anti-bikie laws targeted 0.3% of Australian crime, referring to research presented by Victoria University Adjunct Professor, Dr Arthur Veno. “Every time you want to ride with three people it’s a gang? That’s ridiculous. There’s the Ulysses clubs, there’s HOG clubs, there’s Christian movement clubs, there’s even scooter clubs and we’re all tarred with the same brush and it’s just not right.” Police and the Newman Government have previously asked recreational riders for patience amid the bikie crackdown, but concede there will be disruptions for law-abiding motorcyclists.

A woman meets a gorgeous man in a bar.  They talk, they connect, they end up leaving together. They get back to his place, and as he shows her around his apartment, she notices that his bedroom is completely packed with sweet cuddly teddy bears. Hundreds of cute bears up on (3) shelves, cute, little ones all the way along the floor, cuddly medium-sized ones on a shelf a little higher, and huge enormous bears on the top shelf along the wall. The woman is surprised that this guy would have a  collection of teddy bears, especially one that’s so extensive, but she decides not to mention this to him, and actually is quite impressed by his sensitive side. She turns to him, they kiss and then they rip each  other’s clothes off and make hot steamy love. After an intense night of passion with this sensitive guy, they are lying there together in the afterglow, the woman rolls over and asks, smiling,”Well, how was it?” The guy says, “Help yourself to any prize from the bottom shelf.” A young mother, accompanied by her small daughter, was in New York City. The mother was trying to hail a cab when her daughter noticed several women, scantily dressed, which were loitering on a nearby street corner. The mother finally hailed her cab and they both climbed in, at which point the young daughter asked her mother, “Mommy, what are all those ladies waiting for by that corner?”The mother replied, “Those ladies are waiting for their husbands to come by and pick them up on the way home from work.” The cabby, upon hearing the exchange, turned to the mother and said, “Ah, c’mon lady! Tell your daughter the truth! For crying out loud ~ they’re hookers!” A brief period of silence followed, and then the daughter asked, “Mommy, do the hooker ladies have any children?” The mother replied, “Of course, Dear, where do you think cab drivers come from?” Three Bikers, a Honda Rider, a BMW Rider and a Harley Rider were sitting in a sauna. Suddenly, there was a continuing beeping sound. The Honda Rider pressed his forearm and the beeping stopped. The others looked at him questioningly.”That was my pager, “he said, “I have a micro chip under the skin of my arm.” A few minutes later a phone rang. The BMW Rider fellow lifted his palm to his ear. When he finished he explained, “That was my mobile phone. I have a micro chip in my hand.” The Harley felt decidedly low tech, but not to be out-done he decided he had to do something just as impressive. e returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging from his ass. The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him.The Harley Rider finally declared...”Well, will you look at that, I’m getting a fax.” 26

He stepped out of the sauna and went to the bathroom. He returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging from his ass. The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him.The Harley Rider finally declared...”Well, will you look at that, I’m getting a fax.” Three guys were sitting in a bar. After a sip of his martini, one young professional says; “You know, tomorrow is my anniversary. I got my wife a diamond ring, and a new Mercedes. I figure that if she doesn’t like the ring, she will at least like the Mercedes, and know that I love her.” After finishing his scotch, the older guy says; “Well, my past anniversary I got my wife a string of pearls and also a trip to the Bahamas. I figured if she didn’t like the pearls, she would at least like the trip, and knowthat I love her.” The older biker downs his shot of Jack Daniel’s and says; “ Yeah, well for my anniversary I got my old lady a tee-shirt and a vibrator. I figured if she didn’t like the tee shirt, she could always go screw herself.” Two factory workers were talking . . . a guy and a blonde. ”I know how to get some time off from work.” said the man. “How do you think you will do that?” asked the blonde. He proceeded to show her...by climbing up to the rafters, and hanging upside down. The boss walked in, saw the worker hanging from the ceiling, and asked him what on earth he was doing? “I’m a light bulb” answered the guy. “I think you need some time off,” said the boss. So, the man jumped down and walked out of the factory.  The blonde began walking out too. The boss asked her where she thought she was going?   “Home. I certainly can’t work in the dark”. A man and woman were having marital problems so they went to see a marriage counselor. The counselor, in an attempt to find some common ground from which to begin his analysis said, “Tell me about any-thing the two of you have in common.” The husband spoke up first and said, “Well, let’s see…..for starters, neither one of us sucks dicks.” * Reminds me of that tee-shirt.... Sick My Duck! For all those men who believe that there’s no reason to buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, well nowadays 99% of women are against marriage, as they have wised up to the fact that for 8 oz. of sausage, it’s not worth buying the entire PIG!
