The Iowa Yellow Jackets 2013 season didn’t go as well as their 2014 season, but they did manage to put away seven wins before losing their momentum. Head Coach Sean Richard told Thrive last year that momentum was the word of the year, and their consecutive losses after October 25’s bout versus Westlake proves the point. The Yellow Jackets came out strong, only giving up less than two touchdowns in the majority of games played before that day, though one could see their forward march stumble during their win versus St. Louis, where they barely eked out a victory. Richard will have to steel himself and his team against such motion robbing events in the 2014 season, and look to exact revenge against the Westlake Rams. To that end Richard has senior Koby Buquet at quarterback, a veritable general who aims to rally his troops against the district defensive siege. Helping him do that is center Austin Brown.
Many of the Yellow Jacket’s players are playing ironman football, with a presence on both sides of the ball. D’Juan Rigmaiden, Ryan Danos and Chaz Key will have an affect on offense and defense, and other players on both sides of the line of scrimmage will look to them for leadership. It will be up to Richard to take care not to rob those players of their vitality as they take on one of the toughest roles that football has to offer.
