What is a farmers market?

A farmers market is a public and recurring assembly of farmers or their representatives selling the food that they produced directly to consumers. Gloria was a resident of Shreveport and retired as a bookkeeper. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather; son, Jeremy Jones, Sr.; and sister, Carolyn Shindlebower. Memorial services for Ann Powell Rhoads will be held at First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Officiating will be Bishop William Hutchinson and the Reverend Doctor Ashley Goad. Visitation will follow

the service in the Hunter Building, 101. Ann Powell Rhoads died on Monday, April 26, 2021. She was born on October 12, 1944 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville, Virginia in 1962, attended Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1982 from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Upon graduation from LSUS Mrs. Rhoads taught in the Caddo Parish School System. After teaching for several years she launched a new career in long term health care, becoming the Assistant Executive Director of Live Oak Retirement Center in Shreveport. Mrs. Rhoads was married to the

Reverend Doctor Carl E. Rhoads whose ministerial responsibilities took them to the southern part of Louisiana in 1992. Mrs. Rhoads served on the staff of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge as the Director of the Care Ministry. At the time of her husband’s retirement in 2008 they moved back to Shreveport where Mrs. Rhoads was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter BL and the Woman’s Department Club in Shreveport. Mrs. Rhoads was predeceased by her father, John E. Powell, and her mother, Mary Joan Haddox Powell. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Carl Emerson Rhoads, III,

daughters Amy Rhoads Smith and son-in-law Dr. Joseph Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Beth Rhoads Hughes and son-in-law Scott Hughes of Shreveport. Her three grandchildren Morgan Emerson Hughes, Merritt Elizabeth Hughes, and Jacob Allen Smith will always be in her heart. She is also survived by her sisters Judy Farr of Raleigh, North Carolina, Nancy Goodson and husband Bob of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jane Mullins and husband Rick of Homestead, Florida and one brother, John David Powell of Shreveport.
