Our Vision: La Coalición envisions a diverse and vibrant North Carolina which embraces, supports and respects people of all cultures and backgrounds. o La Coalición is an immigrant rights organization that is pioneering a model for 21st century democracy building and inclusive community engagement in North Carolina -- a region that has never before experienced such dramatic demographic shifts. We have developed a multifaceted approach to promote justice and equity called Social Service to Social Action, a strategy that traces an intentional path through direct service intervention, integration support, alliance building, institution and systems change – all building toward meaningful culture and policy change. o Programs & Services:  Immigrant Welcome Center  Worker Support Center  Immigration Law Clinic  Citizenship  United 4 The Dream (U4TD)  Cultural Events Legal Aid, Charlotte area (HSN) o Slogan: “Life-Altering Solutions to Critical Legal Issues” o The staff of Legal Aid of North Carolina - Charlotte Office provides legal assistance in civil matters (non-criminal matters) to eligible, low-income clients who have problems with their basic needs and live in the area surrounding Mecklenburg County o Services & Projects:  Battered Immigrant Project (BIP)  Domestic Violence Prevention Initiative (DVPI)  Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention (MFP)  Senior Law Project (SLP) Legal Services of Southern Piedmont (LSSP), Inc., Charlotte (HSN) o Slogan: “A Full Measure of Justice for Those in Need” o Mission: To assure a full measure of justice for those in need. LSSP provides a wide range of civil legal assistance in civil matters to eligible low-income persons in the Charlotte metropolitan area and west-central NC. LSSP accomplishes its mission through a variety of legal advocacy strategies including individual advice and representation, community education and outreach, representation of groups, self-help remedies, collaboration with other agencies, community economic development, legislative and administrative advocacy, and impact litigation. o Programs & Services:  Family Support and Health Care  Immigrant Justice  Consumer Protection and Employment Law  Legal Services for the Elderly  HIV/AIDS Legal Assistance Project  Veterans Legal Services Project Loaves and Fishes, Inc. (See Healthcare/Nutrition for Low-Income/Homeless Individuals) Love, Inc., Charlotte o Mission Statement: The mission of Love In the Name of Christ is to mobilize believers in Christ to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the poor, elderly and disabled in our community. o Love INC does not seek to replace or duplicate what human service agencies and ministries are doing well, but only to supplement and complement the work of those agencies. o Volunteer Services:  Donate items to Baby Layette Ministry  Help with legal and medical forms  Handicap ramp construction  Safety bar installation  Painting (interior and exterior)
