We offer exclusivity to newlyweds and feel you shouldn’t have to share your special day with another wedding party; you can be assured that the only wedding we will be looking after on your special day will be yours. Our very own professional wedding co-ordinator will be available to guide you through every stage of the planning process for your wedding. We have a variety of wedding packages for you to choose from, plus we also have the opportunity to offer you a completely bespoke wedding service. ceremony You can choose the setting for your wedding ceremony; we have a civil licence for The Library, Lounge, Summer House and Tudor Hall. The number of guests will determine which room will best suit your requirements for your ceremony. The rooms and areas of the hotel can be decorated and styled according to your personal theme, and with the many original features the castle already boasts, you can be assured of a truly magnificent backdrop for your ceremony. We can cater for small intimate weddings, blessings or vow renewals as well as more lavish, opulent exclusive-use wedding celebrations.

celebrate Once your ceremony is complete, it’s time for you to celebrate with your close friends and family. We can serve you and your guests from a wide selection of soft drinks, fine wines and champagnes together with freshly-prepared canapÊs. There are impressive areas throughout the hotel and the grounds for your official photography whilst your guests are enjoying their reception drinks.

Award-Winning Cuisine Once you have decided on Thornbury Castle for your wedding celebrations, we will arrange for a personal menu consultation with our Executive Head Chef – Mark Veale. Mark will be delighted to chat over your wishes, likes and dislikes so he can create a bespoke menu for your big day. You and your partner will be invited into our award-winning restaurant to taste the delicious selections for yourselves. Additional courses can be added to your three-course wedding breakfast menu, plus a variety of evening buffet options ranging from hog roasts and barbecues to cheese and antipasti platters. We will also introduce you to our knowledgeable in-house sommelier who can pair your dishes with wines from our extensive wine cellar. I look forward to working with you to create a delicious menu for your special day; I will suggest dishes and find locally-sourced ingredients to ensure you and your guests have an unforgettable dining experience at the castle. The Tudor Hall The charismatic Tudor Hall is our largest room for weddings at Thornbury Castle. This truly magnificent room boasts an impressive mullioned window, exposed stone walls and intricate tapestries, together with a huge original fireplace. Two further interlinking reception rooms, the Boyling House and the Great Oven, make this a superbly versatile venue for your wedding celebrations. With a maximum capacity of 66 guests for a sit-down wedding breakfast and a civil wedding licence for 70, the Tudor Hall can be used for both wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. Local couples can marry at the neighbouring St Mary’s Church, where an original Tudor gateway connects the churchyard to the castle’s walled Tudor gardens, eliminating transport from the church to the hotel. The wedding party can stroll through the grounds, being served delicious canapés and sipping champagne along the short route into the Tudor Hall for your wedding breakfast. Using the neighbouring church will enable the Tudor Hall to be dressed and styled more dramatically – we have a wide range of great suppliers to add impact to the room.

The baron’s Sitting room This exquisite wood-panelled room situated at the top of a wooden staircase in the main house of the hotel, has its own reception room with a roaring open fireplace and comfortable occasional seating overlooking the hotel’s vineyard and helipad. This atmospheric area of the hotel is an ideal setting for the more intimate wedding and can accommodate up to 22 guests. The partnership of the Baron’s Sitting Room and its reception room, the Chancellor’s Lounge, coupled with the opportunity of having a civil ceremony in either the hotel’s Lounge or Library, means a small scale marriage celebration still has the majestically regal feel your special day deserves.

accommodation Every one of our 26 bedchambers is fabulously atmospheric, most having four-poster or coronet beds, stone walls, tapestries, roaring fires, ornate carved ceilings and views to historic parkland and the River Severn beyond. All bedchambers are luxuriously warm and most have real fires. They are also extremely comfortable with opulent, well-appointed bathrooms, TVs (carefully screened, of course) and welcoming touches such as the decanter of sherry you’ll find on your arrival.
