The new digital application enhances the product review experience by giving users an opportunity to configure their body armor based on key features such as the ballistic shape, coverage, and NIJ threat level, as well as predefined options. Within minutes, customers can easily view options for front-opening Guardian carriers that best meet their needs.
The Armor Smart Vest Builder for side- opening carriers gives users the opportunity to customize their vests according to their individual needs and agency requirements. Select from 6 different front panel styles, 4 back panel configurations, 4 interior lining choices, and multiple sideclosure selections. Upon completing the process, the program allows the user to save their “build” for future reference when placing an order. Our advanced body armor systems are specifically designed to help protect Corrections officers against spikes, shanks and other potentially lethal weapons typically found in corrections facilities. Tested and certified by NIJ, our body armor systems provide exceptional torso, bicep, neck and groin protection against ice picks and other sharp edged, pointed weapons. We offer high performance stab packages in (Spike 1, 2 or 3), optional Edge Weapon Level III protection, as well as combo packages that offer ballistic and spike protection.
Body armor that is ballistic re sistant does not necessarily ma ke it stab or punctu re re s istant (and vice ve rs a ). Sharp edged and hand made instruments with pointed tips such as spikes, awls or shanks generally do not need to tear the fabric to penetra te - it merely moves the fibers aside. Point Blank utilizes a combination of super fine, ultr a dense materials, which pr ev ent pointed objects from spreading or moving the individual yarns to stop penetration / puncture.
The NIJ rates body armor on resistance to handdelivered stab threats - the NIJ 0115.00 Standard. Maximum penetration of 0.28”/ 7mm is allowed as serious injury is extremely unlikely with such a shallow wound. Also an “Over-test” is applied, to p ush th e br eaking point of the armor, wh er e 0.79”/ 20mm of penetration is allowed. Ice -pick or improvised “Spike” weapons testing is regularly conducted by Point Blank through it’s independent laboratories.
