Mountainhome Antique Show The 55th Annual Mountainhome United Methodist Church Antique Show and Sale will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20. Dealers from the Pocono Mountains Region and beyond will present a full spectrum of antiques and collectibles, with lots including antique furniture, fine china, glassware, jewelry and primitives. Specialized items, such as vintage clothing and handbags, 1940s and ‘50s pottery and Native American goods, will also be featured at this year’s event. An extensive collection of Bone China cups and saucers will be offered for sale, with the proceeds going to the church’s Stained Glass Window Fund. Hand-crafted gift items and Christmas decorations, as well as a delicious selection of homemade baked goods, will be offered by members of the church’s craft group. Bake sale proceeds will benefit the church. This year’s Antique Show will also feature a live performance by the Trinity Band on Friday, July 19 at 7 p.m., and a presentation by beekeeper Frank Licata on Saturday, July 20 at 2 p.m. The Mountainhome United Methodist Church is located at the junction of Routes 191 and 390 in Mountainhome. Festival hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. A $4 donation is requested for admission. For additional information, contact Maryann Miller, Chairperson, at (570) 595-7390.

Recreational Dam Release Weekend The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21 as target dates for a Recreational Dam Release Weekend on the Lehigh River. In regulating the Francis E. Walter Dam, the USACE creates ideal whitewater rafting conditions by releasing hundreds of cubic feet per second of additional water into the river. Each year, the USACE collaborates with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to plan Fishing and Recreational Dam Releases in April through October. Rafters and kayakers eagerly anticipate the rush of riding through whitewater. Splash, swim and have a great time on the Lehigh!
