Level I Excursions are those which take students to familiar settings within the local area for daytime activities that expose students to risks typically encountered in everyday living or while at school and which involve local transportation either by walking, subway, city bus, school bus, or taxi Examples of Level I Excursions: trips to museums, local parks, a local store or neighbourhood, a library, an art studio, a concert hall, a theatre, another school, or athletic facility. Parental consent for Level I Excursions is given at the beginning of each school year

The visit will serve as an extension of our new unit on Immigration and Migration stories We will be looking at how migration has shaped our diverse city, explore the cultural mosaic and reflect on people’s migration journeys Students will go on a guided tour to observe the landscape of our Canadian cities In groups, students will sketch an assigned exhibit They will bring this sketch back with them to reflect on how this structure was formed as a result of immigration

Special Considerations and What to Bring
What to Bring:
1. WATER BOTTLE: All students need to bring a water bottle
2 LUNCH: Sandwiches will be provided by The York School cafeteria Students are permitted to bring their own lunch if they choose to. We ask that all students exercise caution when packing snacks for the bus and are aware that people in our community have serious allergies to foods A NO NUT and NO PEANUT policy is in effect
3 CLOTHING: Although we will be indoors, please have your child dressed for the weather so that they are warm and dry when getting on and off the bus Please bring any personal medication (such as personal epipen, puffer, etc).
