Westview Writers: Celebrating Our Published Authors

Westview Writers: Celebrating Our Published Authors

Upper Elementary Dreams Big

Upper Elementary students assembled a collection of writing and artwork inspired by this year’s school theme, Writing Our Next Chapter. Guided by Mr. Choo, students explored the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” With thoughtful responses and creative expression, students brought their dreams to life, envisioning futures as chefs, meteorologists, and beyond.

Students considered key questions like what their day would look like, where they would work, and even how they’d commute. Each student drafted and revised their work with care, incorporating feedback from teachers before submitting polished versions for publication. This collection is a testament to their hard work, creativity, and the power of dreaming big!

Middle School Poetic Expressions

Middle School students are turning their creativity into a published poetry book, which will be proudly showcased to parents during Westview’s Spring Celebration of Learning.

In Ms. Gaylor’s English Language Arts class, students explored the art of poetry by reading and annotating a variety of poetic styles. The assignment started with each student writing a haiku and then choosing two additional styles to craft their own original pieces.

Students took teacher feedback and constructive criticism from peers to refine their work, resulting in final pieces. These will be compiled into a beautifully assembled Middle School poetry book—the result a representation of their hard work, creativity, and growth as young writers.

Cloudy Paws by Mimi Le

Have you heard that Mrs. Mimi Le is a published author? Her children’s book, Cloudy Paws, tells the heartwarming story of a baby bunny, a cloudy kitten, and a tiny frog as they discover the power of friendship, teamwork, and happiness. After the launch of her first children’s book this fall, Mimi, a licensed psychotherapist at The Stewart Center, visited classrooms and shared her story with Westview students. Mrs. Mimi is a much-loved member of our Westview community, and we couldn’t be prouder of her for sharing her talents and passion for storytelling with our community. Cloudy Paws is a must-have for every child’s library—don’t miss out on this special book!
