Cancer Society Wanaka runs a Coffee Group on the first Tuesday of every month at Edgewater Resort, “Wineglass Café” at 10.30am.

This support group is available for people who have been diagnosed with cancer so they can talk to others who are going through similar experiences. Talking about your cancer can reduce the burden. You may find out ways to better deal with treatment or meet new friends who understand what you’re going through. Research has shown that people who take part in support groups have lower levels of anxiety & depression than those who don’t. If you would like to attend, please just come along and look for the table with the daffodils. There is no obligation or membership, just a group of lovely people having a yarn. If you have any questions, please contact MJ at 022 3430 416.

WHEN: 1st Tuesday of every month, 10.30am

WAFC Football Season Kicks O

The 2023 football season has officially kicked off in March with pre-season training for the juniors and seniors. In the senior space WAFC has the firsts and the reserve teams playing every Saturday and junior football running for 11 weeks every Sunday from 23 April until 2 July around central Otago.

The Wanaka WAFC First Team came third in the Football South Mens Premier League 2022, which was a first for the club. They will be playing in the same competition this year fighting for the top spot. The team is coached by former All White Blair Scoullar and the competition starts on Saturday, 1 April where the WAFC Prems are playing Northern Hearts Football Club from Timaru at the Wanaka Recreation Centre at 2.45pm.

This season, inline with the Women’s Football World Cup being held in New Zealand, our club is running the Soccer Sisters girls’ football programme for its second year in conjunction with Southern Football. The growth in girls’ football has been phenomenal and with a fantastic turnout at pre-season training and registrations looking positive we intend to continue this trajectory through 2023.

WAFC would like to acknowledge the incredible support we are receiving from our community and with special thanks to Mitre 10 Mega Wanaka, Ray White Wanaka and Spytower onboard as our main kit sponsors. To find out more about WAFC please visit the www.wanakafootball.nz and our Facebook page for matches, news and events.
