Dispatches RVS Lunch Club Sherborne – special Jubilee Lunch
THE RVS Lunch Club in Sherborne treated its members to an extra special Jubilee Lunch on Tuesday 7th June. Members arrived to find the Digby Hall transformed with bunting and beautifully decorated tables, with a shiny crown, ‘royal’ shortbread biscuits and chocolates at each place setting. All enjoyed a delicious two course lunch of Coronation Chicken and Eton Mess, both significantly Royal and English dishes, and the customary warm and friendly atmosphere provided by local coordinator Rabiah Jackson and her team of volunteers. Sherborne Mayor Cllr Juliet Pentolfe made the event extra special by attending and providing a large celebration cake to share, showing a picture of HM The Queen. Library Service, also attended and thanked Rabiah and her team for the wonderful service they provide to the community, and their exemplary kindness and support to all their members, particularly during the many months of lockdown. Rabiah Jackson has been honoured by Royal Voluntary Service by being chosen as a Platinum Champion, out of over 3,000 nominations nationwide. She will receive a specially designed, official Platinum Champions’ pin and a signed certificate from Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, who is Royal Voluntary Service’s president. Ms Jacobson congratulated Rabiah by
presenting her with a bouquet of flowers, and chocolates for her team of volunteers. The RVS Lunch Club takes place every second Tuesday at the Digby Hall from 11 to 1.30 and is open to those over 65. It
Bruton Choral Society raise £865 for Ukraine Appeal
After two and a half years, Bruton Choral Society is back! The choir gave a concert for Peace and Hope at St Mary’s Church, Bruton on Saturday 21st May. A total of £865 was raised for DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
