Through-January 4: The Packwood House Museum’s 2013 Holiday Exhibit, “Christmas Memories,” opens on Tuesday, November 26th for the holiday season. The exhibit, spread throughout the first floor of the Museum and in the Tour Center ’s Kelly Gallery, will feature an assortment of nostalgic Christmas decorations from the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s. The display will include a variety of vintage lights, a Woolworth’s display, chenille wreaths, lead icicles, clear and silvered glass ornaments, celluloid ornaments, flocked trees, a Japan cardboard village, and much more. The exhibit is made possible through the generosity of local collector Chuck Chatham, who is lending part of his collection to create the exhibit. A room in the gallery will also host a salon-style art show featuring the work of local artists, with most of the work being for sale. The exhibit will be open from November 26, 2013, through January 4, 2014, during the Museum’s regular hours of Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the Holiday Exhibit is $5 for adults, with children 11 and under and Museum members free. A tour of the entire museum is available at the regular admission price of $10. A special Christmas Tag and Bake Sale will also be held in the Tour Center on Parade Day, December 7th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Museum’s Tour Center is located at 15 North Water Street, in historic downtown Lewisburg. e all have snack attacks. Views on snacking differ. Some people feel that snacking is bad and that eating in between meals leads to weight gain. Others believe that eating many small meals and snacks throughout the day is healthy for maintaining energy levels and optimal weight. But there is no right way of snacking for everyone. To alleviate snack attack guilt, try to understand WHY you are snacking and what snacks work best for your body. Perhaps you snack because your diet is missing nutrition, or because you are not eating enough during mealtime. You might also be snacking to calm your nerves, alleviate boredom, or as a way to lift your spirits if you’re feeling down, or even as a way to increase
your energy. Try to uncover your deeper reasons for snacking and start thinking about how to create a life that is nourishing and truly satisfying.
