OT Graduate Students in the Field with Alumni
A group of OT graduate students were lucky enough to attend the Magee rehabilitation TBI/CVA seminar. University of Scranton alum Amy Flemming MS, OTR/L and Brian Comly, MS,OTR/L led the two-day seminar, conducting guided lectures, and hands-on learning activities, as well as providing an opportunity to observe a treatment session with current patients.
The students traveled to Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Center City, Philadelphia. Here the students were given a tour of the facility including a look into all the different units, floors, and professions involved in the care team at Magee. The students were able to test out different equipment such as Hoyer lifts and Fresnel lenses.
Amy and Brain also allowed students to interact with patients and observe treatment sessions, learning about e-stim, transfers, and various intervention methods for different diagnoses.
This seminar provided a unique, and hands-on learning experience for students. The OT grads thank Magee Rehabilitation as well as Amy and Brian for providing this remarkable experience!
