Il fascIno del tappeto antIco ANCIENT CARPETS CHARM Matteo Cambi, Giovanna Maragliano
Nel 2011, per la prima volta la Casa d’Aste ha deciso di realizzare due appuntamenti specifici dedicati interamente ai tappeti antichi, con un notevole successo di pubblico e con ottimi risultati di vendita, che hanno visto aggiudicati oltre duecentosettanta pezzi per un totale di venduto superiore ai 300.000 euro. Le stime accattivanti, accompagnate da una buona selezione del prodotto, sono senz’altro state alla base del successo di queste vendite, che oggi non si rivolgono più solamente a chi desidera effettuare un investimento, ma soprattutto a chi ama arricchire la propria casa con la personalità e il gusto che un antico manufatto sa dare. Le proposte hanno compreso pezzi per tutti, dai tappeti meccanici a quelli europei, dai tappeti anatolici e caucasici a quelli cinesi e persiani di fine XIX secolo, con pezzi d’arredamento o da grande collezione. Tra le migliori aggiudicazioni, ricordiamo un grande tappeto Kirman Laver a fondo rosa del XVIII secolo, venduto per 16.500 euro, e un tappeto Aubusson con medaglione centrale, che ha raggiunto la cifra di vendita di 10.600 euro. Il tappeto è legato alla cultura di numerose popolazioni, differenti per religione, provenienza e formazione culturale, sia sedentarie che nomadi. Viene utilizzato nelle abitazioni per decorare e per definire gli spazi e il loro uso; nelle tende dei nomadi viene appeso sia per difendersi dalla temperatura esterna, in inverno come in estate, sia per riporre oggetti e per trasportare merci. Dentro un tappeto c’è una storia che va letta attraverso i suoi decori, i suoi simboli, i suoi colori, e in certi casi anche la sua usura, che permettono di leggerne meglio la provenienza. Le prossime proposte di tappeti avverranno durante l’asta di antiquariato di febbraio, dove un’ottantina di pezzi soddisferanno soprattutto le esigenze di arredamento; in occasione delle aste di aprile, i collezionisti e gli amanti del genere potranno trovare pezzi di maggior pregio per le loro collezioni in un catalogo interamente dedicato. Tra i tappeti di maggior interesse segnaliamo un tappeto nel nord-ovest della Persia del XIX secolo, stimato 15.000-18.000 euro, un tappeto portoghese di inizio XX secolo, stimato 6.000-7.000 euro, e un tappeto persiano Malayer con stima 4.500-5.000 euro.
In 2011, for the first time, the Auction House decided to realize two specific sales completely dedicated to ancient carpets, with a huge success in terms of public and sale results, since more than 270 pieces were sold for a total over 300,000 euros. Catchy estimates, together with a good selection of the items, were the basis for the success of these sales, addressed not only to people wishing to make a good investment, but also to those who love enriching their home with the character and taste that only ancient manufactures can give. The items included pieces for everybody, from Oriental to European carpets, from Anatolic and Caucasian to Chinese and Persian carpets of the end of the 19th century, with pieces of furniture or collector’s item. Among the best adjudications, it is worth mentioning a large Kirman Laver carpet with pink background dated 18th century, sold for 16,500 euros, and an Aubusson carpet with central medallion, sold for 10,600 euros. The carpet is linked to the culture of numerous populations sedentary and nomadic, different for religion, origin and cultural background. It is used in the houses as a decoration and definition of the spaces and their use; within nomadic tents, carpets are hanged as a defence against the outside temperature, both in summer and winter, and as places where to put objects and to transport goods. Within a carpet, there is a story to be read through its decorations, symbols, colours and, sometimes, also its wear and tear, identifying their origin. Eighty carpets will be put on sale during the Antiques Auction in February. These will mainly be pieces of furniture, while most prestigious items will be put for sale in a dedicated auction in April. Among the most interesting carpets, it is worth mentioning a carpet coming from the North-Western Persia of the 19th century with an estimate of 15,000-18,000 euros, a Portuguese carpet of the beginning of the 20th century with an estimate of 6,000-7,000 euros, and a Persian Malayer carpet with an estimate of 4,500-5,000 euros.
