7. View the work of one of the major European Modernist artists During The Second World War, the Island became the home to German and Austrian internees – many of whom were artists and intellectuals. One such artist – Kurt Schwitters - fled from Nazi Germany to the UK and worked from a special attic studio in Hutchinson Internee Camp, Douglas. His work will be displayed at The Sayle Gallery in Douglas from the 27th September - 27th October (FREE ENTRY) following a major exhibition at the Tate Britain to mark the 65th anniversary of his death.

10. Explore hidden heritage treasures for free! Celebrate the Island’s unique heritage with six days of open doors, tours and activities behind historic properties usually closed to the public that are free to explore in October! See for free displays that normally charge admission or join a guided walk to unusual spaces and places. Including a tour around Tynwald, a guided stroll around the historic harbour in Peel at the Leece Museum, or a snoop at Castletown’s historic, criminal underbelly with a stop at Ballie Scott’s Police Station and the Court at Castle Rushen.
