Program Philosophy: Baseball is foremost a game of skill. The acquisition of skill requires the proper environment, information, and teaching methods. All players, regardless of “God-given” athleticism, can improve their level of skill. We value the development of skill above all else. Our goal for each player is to help them reach their genetic potential by creating an environment that fosters that goal. Our language, actions and encouragement help to create the environment necessary for real improvement. An emphasis on individual improvement, and a different way of measuring “success” independent of the scoreboard, “free” your young athlete to become the best he can be.

Program Structure: “More isn’t better… better is better.” We are a ten-month program and need to be mindful of how much time we expect from our families. Everyone needs time for other things. With that in mind, we minimize the number of training sessions (practices) by maximizing the amount of time spent at “practice”. Our sessions are highly organized, and players are never in groups of more than four in order to provide hundreds-to-thousands of supervised repetitions for each player. Each “drill” is designed to produce and reinforce specific “movement patterns” that are essential for each skill. For example, we won’t teach your player how to “field a ground ball.” We will teach him how to effectively field the seven general types of ground balls, since each requires a slightly different movement pattern.

Program Dates: October 6th thru December 17th (excluding Thanksgiving week) and January 12th thru July 7th. Parent / Player Mtg (MANDATORY): August 20th, 6:30-8:00pm, Paramount Subdivision Clubhouse (Meridian). Ages: 12u only…All players must be 12 or younger as of April 30th, 2019. Training Information:    

th

Begins Saturday, October 6 Includes sports performance training (speed, agility, flexibility, functional strength) AND baseball skill development Locations: indoor training @ Rock & Armor (Locust Grove & Franklin), outdoor training typically @ Heritage MS (Meridian & McMillan), others as needed Hours per week/month: o October thru January: Normally, (1) one-hour sports performance session per week AND not more than (1) two-hour training session per week, with a monthly average of 10 hours of training time. (Typical month = 2-3 weeknight training sessions and/or 1 Saturday session) o February thru June: Normally, (1) one-hour sports performance session per week AND a varying schedule with a monthly average of 16 hours of training time. (Typical month = 5-6 weeknight training sessions and 2-3 Saturday sessions) o Additional sessions will be offered periodically and will be announced as optional for those interested.

Conflicts with Other Sports: We encourage all kids to participate in multiple activities throughout the year. Kids need to pursue their own interests and not be “pushed” into training for just one sport. In fact, studies show that early specialization and year-round competition increases the rate of youth injuries. In general, we do our best to find dates for our activities that will fit the majority. But that is not always possible, and we need to have our players fully engaged in order to realize the amount of improvement we expect. So, we allow our players to miss one training session per month without penalty. Additional absences impact development too greatly. So please plan accordingly when registering for other activities.

Spring Games:    

Instead of playing Cal Ripken or Little League in the spring, our players compete against other area clubs. A minimum of 12 games with varying schedules (weeknight/weekend, single games/doubleheaders). Schedule will be announced later this fall. FOR CLARITY: starting this year, we will not allow our players to play in a spring league!

Guaranteed Playing Time: Since we believe foremost in player development, we will never sacrifice playing time for our players. We picked them, we will play them, period. Each player in good standing (not being disciplined for behavior, etc.) is guaranteed to play a minimum of 40% of all the defensive innings in each tournament, and receive at least one at bat in each game. For example, if a total of 20 innings were played in a tournament, the minimum a player would play in the field would be 8 innings. And he would have batted in each game at least once.

Gear Package: Significantly upgraded…All players will receive two hats, two sublimated jerseys, two pairs of custom knicker pants, two sets of custom stirrups, a Dri-fit practice shirt, sweatshirt, batting helmet + decal.
