e eral charges Octtober 4, stemming ffrom the theft of a q quarter collection a and a debit card. Amery police v visited with the Rehling v victims of a theft and according to tthe probable cause rreport, had a q quarter collection w worth $45 stolen ffrom their home as w well as debit cards. T The victims told tthe officer that $60 Parris was taken from their account at an ATM machine in Amery. The victims learned that Parris had purchased cigarettes from a neighbor with quarters and this is what led them to believe that Parris and his girlfriend, Rehling, had stolen the quarters and their debit cards, which they had cancelled. The police officer found the couple walking on Keller Ave., where Parris admitted to having the cards. The officer noticed that Parris smelled like burnt marijuana. Parris admitted to having a pipe and a search revealed a glass bowl marijuana pipe with residue and two grinders. When the officer asked Rehling what she had, she handed over a ziplock bag of marijuana. A search of Rehling’s handbag revealed an eye glass case with a glass pipe commonly used for smoking meth with residue and a bag with a white substance. Rehling said that the white substance was something else. The debit cards were located, but the $60 was gone, used to purchase marijuana, according to the couple. Parris’ pipe and grinder tested positive for THC, Rehling’s pipe tested positive for meth and the white substance tested positive for amphetamines. Parris was charged with theft and fraudulent use of a financial card, theft, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping. Rehling was charged with possession of amphetamines, possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia.

About the crime stories

The crime stories on this page are based on the Probable Cause reports from different law enforcement agencies. Probable Cause Reports (PCs) are simply a report stating the “Probable Cause” that the arresting officer had at the time of arrest. It is used by the District Attorney, Defense Attorney, and Judges in the court’s “Initial Appearance” to assist them in determining, first, to confirm whether or not there was enough “Probable Cause” for the arrest, second, if the charge stated by the officer is appropriate and supported by the information contained therein, and third to assist the judge in setting bond. The District Attorney also uses the Probable Cause Report as a basis (but not exclusively) to complete the Criminal Complaint, which is the official charging document. A Probable Cause Report is NOT the same as a Criminal Complaint. While the PC shows why the person was arrested, they are not officially charged until the Criminal Complaint is filed. Those charges may differ from the charge(s) listed on the PC based upon what charges the District Attorney believes he can prove. Charges may be amended up or down during the charging process as information becomes available. As always, an arrested person is presumed to be innocent until convicted by a judge or jury. Not all arrested people are convicted of the crimes alleged.
