each other,” Robert said. “We had to become family first.” The couple are the parents of Olivia, 10 and Audrey, seven and live in Osceola. Those plans are now changed, as she will join Robert in the store’s operation, focusing on interior decorating. “We are going to treat each job like it is our own,” Robert said. “Look at them as a person and not as customers. Make them enjoy the process and giving them no stress.” Word-of-mouth has worked. “We are already getting business and we haven’t even opened,” he said. The Standfields have called this area home for the last five years. “There are a lot of good people in the area who are down to earth,” Robert said. “We love being so close to the River. team to root for while wintering in New Orleans or San Diego, Mary and Dave made the ultimate basketball “power couple.” Dave had special love of “the Sport of Kings,” as he owned and trained several thoroughbred race horses, racing them in many states. He also loved to “play the ponies” and to host annual Kentucky Derby gatherings with dear friends. Dave was a charter member of the Big Briggs Boys hunting camp, where his skill as a hunter led to him bringing home exactly one deer in approximately 25 seasons. WEEKLY MEDITATION Help wanted signs for God’s abundant harvest BY BEN NELSON, INTERN PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH

Autumn has officially arrived, signaling its presence with increasingly earlier nights, crisp mornings, and trees bursting forth into golden yellows, warm browns, vibrant oranges, and deep reds. I love so much of what autumn brings. Summer often sends us our separate ways, and now we return to the ritual centers of our com-

munity: weekdays in our schools, Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings in our churches, or the football stadium on a Friday night. I, and I’m sure many of you, am grieving the absence of these congregations as this pandemic persists. In my golden days, fall meant cross country season. My “Friday night lights” were instead Saturday morning meets with the boys. It’s a special feeling to stand shoulder to shoulder with your teammates, toeing the starting line with the future of your season

hanging in the balance. Those few seconds standing on your marks before the gun fires are pure euphoria. The timeline of a cross country season aligns similarly to the growing season. Running hundreds of miles beginning in May and carrying through the summer for a strong base is similar to the planting and nurturing the seeds and young plants. Athletes round into form and bear fruit as the competition season arrives in SEE MEDITATION, PAGE 15
